I am compassionate towards the great loss of life and I'm sorry this has happened, but is there nothing else to report on?

Some guy called Tim quit his job, not sure anyone is bothered though. Fire or no fire.

That's not how TV news works. If it's a massive story it becomes all the news get over it.

I think we are expecting further updates from the emergency services. This is the worst tower block fire in the UK.

It knocked off the story of the congressman who has been shot. That may, just about, have otherwise made the Six O'Clock News (if it was going to include any other news). Instead, Tim just got onto the Six. The story however is the fire.

Exactly, it's been developing in terms of loss of life and other aspects across the day. To say the coverage has been excessive is rather uncalled for. It's one of the worst losses of life in the UK due to a fire in a long time. You could compare it to the Kings Cross fire and in terms of 'scale' the Buncefield Oil Depot explosion and fire. It was certainly a developing story between 11 and 4 when I was covering it on the radio.

I'm surprised people haven't called for London Live to be broadcasting live from the scene all day, that they didn't have a team in place to roll through the night and there was no news special this morning. Sound familiar?
