One source said: “These are big cuts and they have been planning them for weeks – while the staff have been working their nuts off covering Covid, and as our viewing figures went through the roof.

“There were lots of tears. People were feeling really shafted.”

I wonder if the breakfast and lunchtime London opt outs won't be returning

There is a recruitment freeze at the BBC at the moment which is causing some job losses as contracts aren't being renewed. I know at least one person who would have had theirs renewed but they just aren't being allowed to

Apparently it's down to BBC London being overstaffed currently with personnel who work on Inside Out who will no longer be required.

Sadly it's going to happen unless the over 75s licence issue is resolved with government funding, and that just seems highly unlikely. Maybe they should get Marcus Rashford to write a letter.
