Has BBC broke the news yet?

BBC News as just broke the news. Not heard anything from Sky or ITV since the end of the last hour. N24 correspondent just said that there seems to be nothing happening on the streets and like intheknow said above, the House of Commons is stil in session.

I've been thinking about this for a while... and finally decided to say it!

Why do some forum members think it important to relay news stories here...
This is a media savvy world, we all monitor news stories, watch tv, buy papers, stream webfeeds etc etc etc...
I don't come to the forum just to read a long list of today's news stories... I want to take part in a discussion about how TV channels are presenting the news...
It's fine when it is in the context of discussing how a channel is reporting something, highlighting how channels differ in their coverage of the same story, or even the time differences between news channels on racing to cover the same flash.
But simply writing: Sky News say arrests... or "Plenty of news around today" is just plain stupid.

I suspect its people wanting to appear popular by breaking some news.

To Presentaion....Why Does Sky News always flash up the Breaking News strap long after the News seems to have broken?

Some captures from tonight's Calendar are in the Yorks & Lincs thread.

Calendar's reporter was apparantly the first on the scene at one of the raids in Leeds, not surprising as its only about 2 or 3 streets away from Yorkshire Television

I take it you don't bother to read our sister forum then.

I have to say BBC News 24 has had the best coverage so far. Usually on major news (ie Pope's death) they used special titles. Shame no special titles when the news broke on Thursday.

Sky's and ITV's coverage is a shambles, they keep having a Breaking News strap when news gets through regarding the investigations even though the news has broken a while ago!

I agree, Sky News is doing good as well.
I hate Fox News, the way it made insulting comments about us (London) being bombed and also it critised the BBC and the olympic bid.

Just looking through tomorrow's schedules, and ITV1 ITV2 and ITV3 will all be taking the ITV News just before 12pm for the silence tomorrow - is this the first time all three ITV channels have done this, or has it been done in the days before ITV3?

Also worth noting... the CBBC channel will join the Newsround studio at 12 o'clock to cover the silence.

Because people get home/switch over at different times of the day, and when it's very important news it's good to be able to see what's happened straight away.

Is it really necessary to have a 'Blair on the Spot' caption for Prime Ministers Questions? Whats wrong with 'PMQs'? or the proper title?
