We don't know if Birmingham WAS targeted at all. It's quite possible it was a false alarm. Or maybe someone just decided Birmingham should be evacuated not because of a bomb threat but because... well, because it's Birmingham , for ****'s sake.
What a load of ignorant comments you've both made. These terrorists were targetting innocent people - not royals or politicians. The people of Birmingham are just as important as those in London or anywhere else.
Birmingham suffered one of the worse IRA attacks in the 1970s and as the 2nd largest concentration of population in the UK it is a target and lives can't be gambled with - just because you 2 don't think there's anything important or interesting here doesn't reduce the danger.
Birmingham has the biggest retail and business/financial centres outside of London, and the 20,000 evactuated people were largely from the area around Broad Street where most of them were enjoying a night out - the figure rose to 30,000 when the Arcadian Centre and Hurst St areas were evacuated too - that's the population of some of the UKs main towns potentially at risk.
A couple of years ago a huge bomb was discovered and fortunately safely defused near to New Street Station (a major and vunerable hub of the rail network) but because of the Londoncentric media it barely got mentioned on the national bulletins - a broken fingernail of a Chelsea football player probably got higher up the news agenda.
When was the last time either of you actually came to Birmingham?

Why would they want to do this with Birmingham as they don't have Tony Blair or important people living there. It might be one of Britain's biggest cities but there's not much interesting things over there. I supose London was targeted cause TB, Govement and the Royals live there
