Must say brmb are doing really well. They are live from a portacabin, with just one phone line. Yet they've got a presenter in, the head of news, and a reporter in the city centre. They are carrying the news first, before the news channels. They are reading a new police statement now about a second suspisious package - before anyone else!

They are doing an excellent job. Capital have really outdone themselves over the past few days.

BBC WM meanwhile: silence.

What is the respective popularity of WM and BRMB in the midlands? Do BRMB generally compare well news-wise with the BBC?

I'm listening to the Hereford & Worcester online stream now - are all the WM FM frequencies silent?

FM is from Worcester. DAB is from Turners Hill instead of Sutton Coldfield - so isn't able to be remotely accessed afaik. Online must take the DAB feed...

Ah OK... don't get FM in Southend! I presume he's doing a similar sort of info relay jobby?

As I understand it, BBC WM's FM feed is currently coming from Worcester, but the DAB feed and online feed, which were being fed by the back-up tape are currently silent (due to the backup tape ending).

yes, its a joint effort with bbc hereford and worcs (can be heard online @ http://www.bbc.co.uk/herefordandworcester/)

however brmb's efforts do feel like theyre at the heart of the action, cos they are.

anyway - top marks for both of them managing to cope at such an off-peak time.

BRMB are broadcasting from Halesowen, if the 0121 585 telephone number is to be believed.
