Hazel Westwood now live in vision on Sky.

Presumably from the same uplink they've just used to feed the traffic + press conference pictures.

I have to say i am very shocked with ITV Weekend News not covering this, well not in much a big way......also about the background i could imagine it looking better if it was blue.....it would set in with the colours aswell ?

Well apparently, the back-up transmitter has no affect on DAB. So when the emergency DAT runs out - expect silence!

If you look here http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/incidents/cleared.html there has been half a dozen security alerts today. This may just be another example of being on high alert

BBC WM Dab and Net Stream are still on emergency tape, FM is from Worcester.

Yep. I got bored with the tape. At least they've now got some experienced presenters on..

The regular newswall would be more appropriate option, except the red newswall is part of ITV News' "Target Britain" campaign. Personally I think its a terrible choice of colour in light of Thursdays events.

Yes, although West Midlands Police initiated the alert citing "credible intelligence" of a threat to Birmingham, so it's slightly different from your normal "unattended bag at railway station" incident.

That said, the suspect package on the bus possibly/probably has nothing to do with the supposed "threat", but its discovery was most likely a side effect of the extra alert.

ITVNC now doing its normal 11.30 prerecord with no mention of the Birmingham incident.

Though the Birmingham incident in all probability will amount to nothing, it's pretty appalling they can't/won't cover it at all.

That'll be the end of the BBC WM emergency tape then...

Must say brmb are doing really well. They are live from a portacabin, with just one phone line. Yet they've got a presenter in, the head of news, and a reporter in the city centre. They are carrying the news first, before the news channels. They are reading a new police statement now about a second suspisious package - before anyone else!
