Agreed with much that Edward said on the other page about News 24 - all round decent reliable coverage.
They definitely should have used Frank Gardner more - an incredibly experienced journalist with a lot to contribute; it was frustrating to see only 2 min snippets of him.
Also the BBC kept playing the same images over and over again - they also didn't switch back to the studio enough to bring some sort of structure to the coverage. This coupled with the same repeated images made the coverage visually rather boring.
Here in Ireland we had almost as extensive coverage by RTÉ on our main terrestrial channel as the UK. We had full coverage from at least 11.00 in the morning if not earlier, right up till 1.30, followed by more long bulletins from about 3.30 to 4.30, and from 5.30 to 7.00 including the Six One.
The main Nine News ran till 9.40, followed by more current affairs coverage till about 10.30, with another bulletin at 11.00 on RTÉ Two.
As for content, well the usual RTÉ ploy of sending out a fleet of taxis around Dublin to collect various boffins from the universities came into action, but nonetheless information coming though at times was new stuff that some UK channels didn't have, or were interesting variations of eye-witness accounts - as is often the case with RTÉ's coverage like 9/11. At times the info and footage coming through was quite refreshing, and the constant recaps and studio-based interviews offered breathing space, something the BBC didn't do.
They often rely too heavily on 'up-to-the-minute' footage, as all dedicated news services tend towards to their detriment I think.
For loaction footage RTÉ relied heavily on the output of BBC News 24, including all graphics, astons and banners!

You'd think they would've got a clean feed. EuroNews footage with their graphics was also used a lot.
For the Nine News Anne Doyle was in Dublin as usual, with old reliable Bryan Dobson in London (who was in Edinburgh as it was anyway).
London Editor Brian O'Connell was also there to assist:
