How things can change within 24 hours Sad

Does anyone know why they change presenters when switching onto BBC1? I noticed Carol Walker was replaced by Matthew Amroliwala and Phil with Sophie Raworth.

Jane Hill at Kings Cross on BBC1 and News 24 now.

My condolences to those who have lost their lives or injured and my thoughts and prayers are with family and friends

At least one of the presenters is switched at TOTH on the NC. At present it is Steve Scott and Andrea Catherwood, who originally came on-air this morning at 10:12.

Newsnight special with Jeremy Paxman on BBC One at 8pm

BBC One? This must be the first time Newsnight's been on BBC One in it's history, I think.

I think there was a Newsnight special on BBC One on 9/11 too. Not 100% sure, though.

During the Iraq War, simulcasts on BBC One/N24 were always presented by one News 24 presenter and one recognized "face". Although Phil Hayton is a BBC One veteran, Matthew Amroliwala is a regular face on the weekend bulletins. Also, despite her journalistic credentials, she is first and foremost a reporter. They probably wanted someone more experienced on such a big story.

Wasn't that a David Dimbleby special?

I'm not sure if it is officially a Newsnight special. I think it is a BBC News Special put together by the team of Newsnight and presented by Jeremy Paxman. When Saddam was arrested, there was a joint BBC News 24/Newsnight production presented by Jane Hill and Gavin Esler.

I'd have thought Dermot would be back from Singapore and be presenting from there - it's unlike him not to cover a story like this.

BBLB has an appropriate mood in light of todays events - there was no intro, and there was an announcement after the titles regarding todays events.
