Sky News have had LOCKEARNHEAD LANDSLIDE [sic] on the newswall for the last 20 minutes - it's now after 9pm.
How many bright sparks can there be at Sky News if not one person watching or sitting in the newsroom or gallery notices the spelling mistake on the newswall?
Given that it's in bright white 3-foot high letters!
They're stretching the definition of 'Breaking News' though.
BBC News 24 are leading Sky News as far as I can tell - they had a 'survivor' who the presenters got slightly annoyed with. He was asked whether he wished he'd stayed in Edinburgh and responded "No we had a lovely day", to which the presenter, bugged by the fact he hadn't got "My life is ruined", responded "Yes, a lovely day, tea biscuits and a landslide".
ITV News Channel seems to be ahead - no doubt mainly thanks to STV, who will no doubt do a good job again on Scotland Today. That's how you do it Westcountry - no excuses about all the resources going to the news channel from them.
This is probably the longest I've watched the ITV News Channel. I have to say, their coverage is excellent tonight (unless of course you want to know what the rest of the day's news it!). Was interesting to see that they had one of my Geography lecturers on the phone!
Being seriously propped up by Scottish TV though - that's three times in five minutes they've been thanked. Strikes me STV should have cancelled their programmes and done a special programme at 10 or something, but in these ultra-commercial tightening the belt days, there's no way SMG were ever going to do that.
Interesting that they took an interview live which was obviously being recorded for STV - it was being hastily rewinded the second it finished which ITV didn't quite cut away from in time.
Still, good co-operation between ITV and STV, dare I say it. Interesting to see what STV can do that is different though during the 10.50 bulletin.
Just wondering what exactly STV will do with their 10 minutes - they seem to have given everything to ITV, and it's hard to see how they could go any more in-depth than they already have.
