Yes all very good, but I think spotlight should come back and more to the point anything by Guy Michelmore.

Indeed. His pre-corporate South Today theme was a particular favourite of mine.

Oh, and I always liked the LWT News theme.

Why don't people like the London Tonight 1999-2000 titles? I downloaded them today and they're amazing!

Were they the awful "curved TV set" and stylised transmitter with lots of rotating place names ones? They were coupled with a dreadful relaunch (and a really poor headline wipe - which tried to be cleverer than it was). Compared to what they replaced, most people thought they were a step backwards ISTR - and they didn't last long at all.

I'd have guessed the best part of 6 months, they were introduced when ITV News relaunched on the 8th March 1999 and the blue titles were in by the Autumn (before November).

I remember someone on here saying that the Editor of that era was out of a job pretty quickly, but when he went, those titles went. The idea of them is good and the remix of the LT tune is good aswell, but it's the font and the orange circles that make it look crap.

Love that London Plus - haven't seen that before.

My two pennorth - the BBC Wales Today theme 1997-2001 (?) with the red dragon and full orchestra - http://thetvroom.com/video-5/AR-BBC-WALES-01.rm

and the BBC Newyddion sequence from 1997 (not sure about the use of bagpipes on a Taffy TV show though) - http://www.tv-ark.org.uk/s4c/s4c/news/s4cnewyddion1997.rm

That WALES TODAY theme is spectacular composed by the BBC Welsh Orchestra.
They played in Sailsbury many years ago and did an extended version of that theme, should have taken a recording of it cos it was fantastic.

There is a website for Guy Michelmore with extended versions of South Today and Spotlight http://www.deepwaterblue.net/dwb/s-factual.asp

Scotland Today from 1988. The opening sequence was of an animated and spinning film reel, with the openings in the reel in the colours of the thistle emblem used by STV in those days. Also the era when the newsdesk leg was an illuminated thistle.

The music had loads of bangs and bursts and was very good indeed.
