I didn't realise there was a regional part of the program, just turned over to normal BBC 1 from HD and found Christa Ackroyd with a roundup of the results in Yorkshire.

That's news to me. In London we have no news until tomorrow! Sad

Me too, it was only because Chris Cook posted a running order on twitter and it said "Regions: Opt 3" - https://twitter.com/#!/chrisckmedia/status/198215663754543105/photo/1/large

That's why I turned to normal BBC 1, at the end of the news there was Christa Ackroyd with the round up from Yorkshire. She did say at the end though "That's it from us at Look North tonight, we'll be back in just under 4 hours with more, Good Night".

Now I feel like I've missed something by missing the previous 2 opts.

Suspect only those regions where they were counting last night opted out. where they don't start until this morning there's little for them to report overnight.

The Midlands also opted with Patrick Burns live at Birmingham Town Hall - although he was featured in the national programme too due to the likelihood of Labour taking back the council and also the referendum for an elected mayor.

The local opts had even dodgier graphics than the national programme!

What did London (and anywhere else without an opt) get instead between Kasia's news and the return to the main national coverage?

Ditto - plus I liked how he kept looking at the monitors as to where to stand or place his hands whilst the graphs were up and he was standing "behind" the graphics!

I though the BBC's election graphics were quite slick. I think they just needed some texturing to them to add some depth, but you could say that about the entire set!

The animations were slicker, and the omission of the bold Gill Sans worked well. I wonder if they were using something like Viz Ticker 3D?

RE: graphics.

They were done by this company, who have also been hired to deal with new lower thirds for BBC News (I assume in time for Broadcasting House). It's unclear to me whether they had any say in the design or whether they simply implemented it (in that case then we can breathe a sigh of relief) but if they did have an input in the design, we'd better get used to them!!

They got further coverage from the national studio plus an update from Wales, who I don't believe were doing any opting themselves.
