Sky's coverage certainly lively so far - if not slightly all over the place. They have stuck roughly to the same graphics used in the general election. Adam presenting from the desk, Michael Thrasher in the 'results centre', better known as the newsroom. Martin Stanford just did a cringeworthy virtual graphics package, hopefully the rest of his analysis will be from the news wall.

Tip of the hat to the iPad coverage as well, which is superb.

I doubt it, that same report has been on for the last 3 hours, so im sure they'll stick with it as theres no need to update from the newswall now, especially with the "results centre" and the onscreen graphics (which look far better than the BBC's)

Ah ok, thanks. Agree the onscreen graphics look great - hopefully Martin's virtual stuff will get better.

But I think it was a pre-record

The news again now with Kasia Madera, I'm guessing there are doing it now because it will mean she can have a break till Newsday at 02:00 now, with there being no UK viewers.

And Kasia Madera just said "That's the headlines, now back to vote 2010".

Now a news update from Kasia Madera, where is she presenting from, it doesn't look like the usual N8?
(She was on world with the same backdrop 6 minutes ago)

If I'm correct the coverage is coming from N9. Or is she not in N8 because the newsroom is plastered with vote 2012?

Kasia Madera is in N8 sitting in front of the Barco wall where you usually see the Newsday backdrop. They seem to be trying to use the N6 backdrop (the old greyish one) which is stretched out of proportion. Would have been better off just using the BBC News globe (or the graphic used when going to a split screen) as a background. Kasia's presenting the News updates when World have opted into an ad break.

Discussing coverage and the lead up to the London Mayoral Elections and Local Elections 2012.

Does anyone know what the likes of the BBC News channel and Sky News have planned yet?

From what I can see on the EPG:

BBC News channel have a special overnight programme 'Vote 2012' (most probably simulcasted on BBC One or BBC Two) from 11.30pm - 4am.

Sky News have 'Decision Time 2012' scheduled between 12am and 4am.

Thanks for the reply, I could see the lines on the Barco on this hours update so guessed it then, it did make me wonder why they don't just use the fake newsroom backdrop.

Going by the usual schedule she's doing the updates immediately after the world news summary at :30 whilst Asia Business Report is on, then as I mentioned above she can have a break till the TOTH.

It seems the BBC are using the MPs who have been voted out of their seats/councils as Live reporters (in the different cities/towns etc) telling the team what's going on and which other parties have taken seats.

Maybe the BBC are trying to recruit some new reporters, from the MPs out of work!

The background behind Kasia Madera looks to me to be the regular fake World newsroom, as seen in this cap from TV Live but without the map.

Are BBC and Sky playing musical MP pannelists, the same 3 of MPs on with David Dimbleby earlier have now popped up with Adam Bolton on Sky News.

Aside from the decidedly blurry graphics, I don't understand why the state of the councils/councillors is now being displayed on the ticker rather than on the little flipper.

Ah, they've just clarified that they're having computer problems so the full results system isn't working.

Thought it was a bit of an odd decision to switch to displaying the results in a less efficient manner.

However, I understand that they need their own system to generate the graphics rather than just the standard BBC News Channel graphics - but why is it so blurry? It seems to act like Viz - or is that by design?

Just flicked over to Sky News and watching a very lively debate with 3 MPs of opposite parties. Democracy! Cry democracy!
