Meh, just be glad he's not in charge of anything where you live!
Mind you, give it a few years and he'll be leader of the Tory party
He is pretty unique - possibly the only likeable Tory in history.

I live 200 miles away from London and I note you must live in Scotland. How exactly is the London mayor important to us?
In my opinion, if they're going to subject those who don't live in London (i.e. the majority of British people) to coverage of the mayoral election there, I see no reason why they can't give a similar amount of attention to non-London elections. It's only fair and balanced.
There's no election going on in Northern Ireland at all (which had its local elections last year), but BBC Northern Ireland will be carrying all the Vote 2012 coverage. Good news for those of us that are political junkies, of course...

Question time is on tonight before Vote 2012. The website says it is coming from London - so will Dimbelby just record it mid evening then move studio for the main programme? Or is this a special recorded edition? I am sure the elections are exhausting enough for Dimbelby & co as they will be on all night and half of tomorrow - it would surprise me if they had him doing another programme this evening.
And, does Paxman usually play no part in regional election coverage? Newsnight is with Gavin Esler tonight - is Paxman doing anything?

For the last lot of Euro and local elections (2009 and 2011), it's been from N9 usually with David Dimbleby, Emily Maitlis and Jeremy Vine. Question Time is always recorded anyway.

This always happens, because Question Time is always pre-recorded earlier in the evening.
In the nineties for a while they used to do Newsnight at 10pm on local election night which would then seamlessly lead into the main election show which would start on BBC1 around eleven. But not anymore.

Actually, you need to go a bit further back in time for that, that would have been in the 80s, because the Newsnight production team would also be responsible for the Local Election coverage. The programmes would always have the Newsnight brand attached to them. That arrangement stopped with the 1991 local elections, if memory serves. There are clips on TV Ark's election coverage page.

Can't be any worse than Cameron though surely - but yes, by "like" I mean as a comedy character, not a political leader.
