Come on, you can see the white balance is very off, that would account for the increase in perceived red tint!

Anyone know if there are due to be any local opts during the main BBC One programme on Thursday night?

The BBC have at least one departure from previous election nights - Jeremy Vine's VR set isn't going to be at ITN this year, it's going to be in one of the last places I'd have ever expected them to use... TC2, according to an insider of this Parish on Twitter.

Jeremy Vine's VR set was at ITN??

Yes, the BBC have used ITN's Studio 1 for the virtual reality stuff on several occasions during past election nights.

Rather than taking such a patronising tone, you should probably look at these comparison screenshots:

Vote 2009 (I think):

*

Vote 2011:

*

Clearly, the background is more red.

I don't think that is necessarily true. The set is lit differently, and in the twitter photo the Screen and other equipment is obscuring the views.

I think my point still stands, it is difficult to judge without seeing it in context.

Martin, you can't say that

http://tvnewsroom.co.uk/wp-content/section-images/local-elections-2011-bbc-one/BBC%20ONE%20Vote%202011%2005-05%2023-40-00.jpghttp://www.tv-live.org.uk/wp/media/elections/2011av/election110110.jpg

is the same background as

just lit differently. The new one is white and red and the old one is blue and yellow!

Vote 2011 and Thursday's backings may be no different. 2009's and 2011's are (I prefer the 2009 one myself especially with through the night coverage).

You can't make a precise judgement until you see it on Thursday is all I said.

Yes but you were saying there was no difference in the 2009 and 2011 election, weren't you?

Either way, the blue newsroom was installed in N9 for the European elections in June 2009, and remained in place throughout 2009 because it was seen again when the News Channel and BBC One bulletins moved in their over Christmas 2009. The newer red and white design was installed in either 2010 or 2011 and was first used for the local elections in May 2011.

There are 2 different designs.

They're the same designs - amazing what lightboxes can do...

If it is the same lightbox image, just lit differently, I say lets go back to a nice moody evening lighting scheme please. Stark white and red at 2am is not ideal!
