London Mayoral & Local Election(s) Coverage 2012

This will be a fluid running order tonight, that's for sure!

I know it's not a straight forward vote and they've got the Assembly votes as well to count but considering some areas can get a general election count in within the hour of polls closing you'd think London could managed to count up their votes in less than 12 hours!

Result is at least another half an hour away apparently.

So, with one seat left, Boris on 912k votes to Ken 826k. Gap now 86k votes. Result they say will be another 30mins min

Jon Sopel saying that election counting machines have broken down, and having to count by hand, hence the wait.

Carole Walker on the Ten now, saying the remaining constituency may be recounted.

Jon Sopel tells it like it is: "There's obviously been some screw up..."

The delay is mainly because 2 boxes of ballot papers have been found, so they've got to start counting them from scratch.

The talk is it might be six boxes and 5000 votes, and the bar codes were damaged

Tim just said we should have a result in... ready for this, brace yourself - 7 minutes. We'll have to wait and see.

If it does run over, I take it the News channel will continue to roll after midnight and not join World until the result has been announced, for example 1am.

Just said on the BBC that the results are known and that the final arrangements are being put into place.

A few minutes ago there was a tannoy announcement asking candidates to go to a committee room. (Which they said had happened 10 minutes previous)
