Do we know where Jeremy Vine is?

Some virtual studio.

That much I had worked out Wink Millbank? TVC?

No... Who else has a very clever virtual studio, is used to doing news, and isn't mounting an election programme tonight...

BBC NEWS: "Actress, sorry Actor" why are females now referred to as Actors in this profession. I have noticed this before. Is it PC gone mad?

My impressions purely based on the studios...

BBC1 England: Possibly their most lacklustre effort yet given that it's just the usual videowall set-up with what looks like the desk from the 2005 general election. But doesn't look too bad - and Jeremy Vine's virtual set is nice.

BBC1 Scotland: Nice big, colourful open plan studio. Nothing ground-breaking and looks pretty much like every other election studio they've had - but still pretty good.

BBC1 Wales: Probably the most innovative of the bunch. Nice big studio, but spoiled by a background made up of silly flashing disco lights and images swooshing way too fast.

Sky News: Nothing new, but then again their studio is already perfect for elections. I'd say it looks at its best when it's being used like this.

I see the BBC have a backup plan if there is a power cut again this year, they have sent Emily to another pub in London, only problem is that they don't get a vote this year, and most of the guests are the same as last year.

BBC Scotland Tonight
Just realised the red blocks in the background of BBC Scotland's election studio are modelled on some of the shapes outside of the Scottish Parliament - clever!

Enjoyed the news update from Jackie Bird - class!

So why did TC7 (N7) need so much prep work considering all they have done is plonk an oversized desk in? Was it purely to practise shots etc? Dont get me wrong it looks nice but i was expecting more given the amount of time they have had in there.

Rehersals, every election programme has them, to make sure that all of the technical issues can be sorted out, although on the night they must remember to put 50p in the meter.

Well nothing is happening in London tonight. Intresting that they are using two inconsistant graphics systems, it looks like the main vizrt system is being used for the live part of the opt, complete with Swiss font, yet the report from Luton was using Gill Sans, and obviously the old system.

More to an election programme than a studio set - there is a pretty large amount of IT infrastructure to set-up, and a lot of graphics gear (not including the VR stuff) to integrate, as well as the interconnection between the studio/gallery and the OB hubbing operations that route the large number of OBs into the live studio/gallery.

And you have to rehearse and check stuff.

Quite difficult to do this stuff if the studio is doing 4 shows a day, plus 2 on Sunday...

Yes i forgot about all the feeds required for the results, OB's etc. I bet theres a few wires running round that studio floor tonight.
