Re: Sky - really impressed with the graphics actually, a big improvement on the oversized astons of last year!

The only thing I'd have changed is I'd have kept the ticker for news headlines and used the main scoring graphic to incorporate the extra statistics.

BBC - not too keen on the dark background, and the studio felt a little lifeless, but all worked well enough. Loved the BBC "Tower" used on BBC1 - looked brilliant!

Anyone have caps of the Sky News graphics of the coverage?

#Soooo long !

Where did we go wrong !

Hey there Mr Blue.

We're so pleased to be with you.

Look around see what you do.

Everybody smiles at you.#

I'll get my coat Rolling Eyes

Must dig out one of their back catalogue CDs I've got.

Soft question time, but why did SKY Epg list BBC 1 Scotland as joining News 24, when according to News 24's own entry on the Epg showed then joining the election special?

(I did tape BBC 1 West Mids but haven't watched it yet!)

A technical question, for any insiders working at BBC LONDON...

The network feed that the Nations (Scotland, Wales & NI) will be taking overnight has Debra Mackensie at News 24, in place of the regional opts.

However, BBC LONDON is opting out on DSAT with it's own coverage.

I know that BBC LONDON can opt themselves on analogue, however I didn't realise that they had the capability to opt themselves on DSAT.

I thought that BBC 1 LONDON on SKY was the main NC1 output (with BBC LONDON opts simply made by NC1 cutting MHS to air). This is not the case tonight.

In other words... If you look at, for example, BBC 1 NI tonight after they join ELECTION NIGHT, you will see News 24 during the regional opt, while BBC 1 LONDON will be at MHS.
Just a guess, since I have no idea how it was actually done - perhaps the usual "network" feed included the London opts, whereas the clean feed was a DOG-less N8 output (which was Millbank plus News 24 fillers)

No... the BBC 1 dirty feed (from NC1's desk) was the same as the BBC 1 Programmes Only Clean Feed.

The Millbank director was calling the Opts for the English Regions and then cutting to the News 24 studio. I presume News 24 were taking the ELECTION NIGHT programme from Millbank too... in which case Debra Mackensie's bits of the programme might have been some sort of ISO feed from N8, allowing N8 to have the Millbank feed on the main output of their desk.

Still not sure how the LONDON opt made it to air on DSAT though.

How right they were!

I thought that Sky's presentation of the local elections were far better than the BBC's. The only problem with Sky's graphics wa sthat NOC results were in a light grey and hard to read.

Well done Sky

Can't NC1 (or whatever its equivalent in the Broadcast Centre is known as) do different things on analogue an digital? Could it not have put N8's output onto analogue (and hence the sustaining feed) and MHS's output onto digital, with MHS opting into analogue locally?

Bit late, I know - but did anyone think that Jezza Vine looked a tad like Harry Hill - his open - necked, slightly oversized collar made me do a double-take.

Well BBC London opted out of Network on DSat, DTT and analogue again today, when The Politics Show came from Birmingham. Net 1 carried the Birmingham (not London) Politics Show opt, but BBC One London on DSat had an opt-out for London.

I suspect this means that BBC One London is actually derived after the BBC London opt-switch (which is seldom used these days?) and is the same as the DTT London feed.

It's still identified as NC1 (and BBC 2 as NC2) over talkback to the Nations, Regions and BFBS.

Yes, there is a spare Stream in Playout 1 which could be used to provide a different version of BBC 1 if required. Not sure of the practicalities of distribution though. Gone are the days of separate analogue and digital sustaining feeds (to the Nations at any rate, and I assume the regions); there is just a digital sustaining feed now.
