Incidentally, who is the Newsnight presenter in the intro above?
Nick Ferrari.
Thought Newsnight were better than that. For another topic and I know it's summer but really wish they'd just keep to a core three - shouldn't need any guest hosts with Ewan, Kirsty and Emily around.

Emily is out of contract and therefore currently unavailable on an indefinite basis, so whenever Evan or Kirsty take any holiday they are down to 1 presenter. While I'd agree that Nick Ferrari is not impartial he is no worse for bias than long term relief presenter James O'Brien is in the other direction.

There's no reason why either of them shouldn't be able to present Newsnight. They're no more or less impartial than any other presenter, it's just they work on a station that allows presenters to give and argue an opinion, which a lot of the time is just them playing devils advocate.
Their programmes still work to the same rules regarding balance. Someone like Ferrari is more opinionated than someone like Evan Davies, yes... but that didn't stop Paxman presenting it

Lyse, Naga, Soapy and even Yalda would all be better fillers IMO.
Sorry for the thread creep, Liz.
