I'm not sure what anniversary you think you're referring to 60 years ago, nor what you think they are actually commemorating today at RAF Coningsby; World War II ended in 1945, and the Battle of Britain was in 1940 (and to some degree extending into 1941), but neither of these is relevant to today's event, which is called the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, and it is the 50th anniversary of that which is being commemorated today.
The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight officially began in 1957 as a development of the traditional Victory Day flypasts following the War, and was intended to be a 'living' tribute to the RAF's involvement and achievements during the War itself, with flying examples of historic aircraft. 2007 marks the 50th anniversary of the inception of the Memorial Flight, not the 60th.
