Dan,

With all due respect, THIS particular thread hasn't exactly been the friendliest of environments, and in pursuing this thread, we have all allowed ourselves to slip into the decorum-mode that perhaps caused the original one to be closed in the first place!

Should we perhaps all kiss and make up, and then go back to discussing tv presentation? Or should we all meet at a bar in London and get hammered on cheap vodka (on Joel's account)?

I am in favour of the vodka option!! Cheer up guys.

Regarding the Lib Dem thingy, Jeremy Thompson's handling of Simon Hughes last night wasn't very good. Thompson continued to speak over the top of Hughes and rarely allowed him to answer questions posed. The media generally seems to be enjoying giving the Lib Dems a real good bashing right now, and Sky are out in front when it comes to this, I have noticed.

James, sorry but I have to say perhaps papering over the cracks and not discussing things that trouble you works in your house, many of us feel quite different.

Surely it is best if we sort the trouble rather than pretending there is no issue.

Sorry, but I really felt the need to say that.

No problem, Gavin. No need to apologise.

Totally agree with you Gavin. While we are on the topic, we should also look at the rudeness in the mocks thread and see if we can make this a much more friendly place.

Right now it seems that all people are just trying to insult others on purpose.

I also think that a moderator should be appointed specifically to guide new members, and to resolve any disputes involving a new member, this should hopefully mean that new members are more accepted around the place.

Perhaps another moderator should be appointed as well, just to supervise the mocks and requests thread.

I dont usualy get in the "moderator" argument, however I do think that some mods tend to use there powers in places they are not needed, or just lock things...because they can.

I think TVF needs honest, fair and just normal , yet respected members of the forum nominated to be a mod, so therefore the mod can "represent" a majority of TVF members, rather than using their own viewpoint completly, which I think is unfair to other members involved.

Whilst it's all very well said just remember the last time there was an "election" the dispute rumbled for some time...

I think, TBH, TVF has the balance right in terms of the main forums and although some disicions can be questioned, undoubtedly there is also a fairly level headed team however, I do think there is a need for at least some form of moderating for the Mocks/Request area because simply put there are abusers there who purely post to take a topic off course, or at least the current Mod team become more involved with that area, particually after the introduction of the ratings system, for example, and I may be proved wrong, I have only ever seen a Mod contribution from CW in the Mocks section. Just something, I think, that needs looking at.

That's a damn fine idea.

I'll volunteer for that job; I'd be fantastic at it.

You see this is exactly what I was talking about. I suppose that you are some sort of eternal presence in the TVF then? You werer never a new member, and therefore you owe no respect to anybody, in a short phrase you are the 'absolute balls.'

And to the guy who tells me to get a grip, I have been here for a while now, and I have seen a fair ammount of under-50-poster users leave becuase they are not made to feel welcome, and abused by people such as the above, as they are instantly put in to the spammer's and imbecile's category.

So, a 'new members' moderator would be quick to clamp down on the time wasters, but would also be able to give help to the new members if it was required.

So perhaps it is you who needs to get a grip.

I understand that's what one or two people have been heard to say of me.
