It seems to be the lead on all channels here. A bit OTT in my view.

indeed, it wouldn't suprise me if this is being highly publicised to help her now flagging career.

Not really a fan of her music, though her videos are worth a viewing! But to suggest her career is flagging is a bit off the mark isn't it, hasn't her recent tour played to packed stadia?

Go away Sigmund! What flagging career???? If you are implying that someone would deliberately invent such a story for the purpose that you have suggested is nothing short of sick. Please refrain. This thread was started by me to discuss the news coverage of the situation. Not for acidic comments like yours above.

Now, anyone got anything else to add about news coverage of this sad news?

she hasn't had a number one single for a while, so this breast cancer scare is a good opportunity to get her in the news - i'm not saying for a minute she made it up, but she *could* have sought treatment quietly, cancelling any tours for personal reasons etc etc without being too specific. this is just begging for sympathy - it's working already with the usual drones of tvf posting empty get well soon messages.

I don't think so. Single sales are insigificant these days, the real money is made on albums, and especially tours, like the very successful one kylie is on at the moment. If she had cancelled without giving reason the press would soon be sniffing around trying to find out the cause, so why not be upfront about it. besides she's always in the news and celebrity magazines for one reason or another, she hardly needs the publicity.

Dr Sig, I usually I have a lot of time for your postings, but I think your comments have been in rather poor taste.

A bit off topic, and no disrespect to Kylie but rather funny that one of the lines in the opening of today's Neighbours was "I should be so lucky".

With no disrespects to Kylie I see no reason why this should be the top story to any news bulletin.
Yes she is a international superstar but there are millions of sufferers past and present around the world, when someone is diagnosed with it why should it be shouted out from the highest mountain.
None of the media organisations made this much fuss when Anastacia announced she had cancer - hers was handled tactfully, she used the experience to champion other sufferers and organisations.
I get the feel from todays preceedings its a bit OTT and unneccessary

it is suggested that many of the cancers of today are due to dodgy vaccines developed in the 1950s.

Google "sv40 polio cancer" for information

I don't care whether this is fabrication, or merely a way of getting free publicity. What I do know is that this will no doubt spark a massive rise in people having cancer checks. Like the Alma storyline did in Coronation Street with cervical smear tests. It can only be good.

As for Kylie herself, as it is the early stages, i'm sure and hope that she'll pull through it. Hopefully she might even do some cancer benefit gigs afterwards.
