Or maybe the Fact Five Has got Neighbours and there will start moving the news else where!

That's a theory I suppose.
The easiest solution would be too put the 7pm bulletin back to 30 minutes I suppose, replacing the 5.30pm. If they are required to keep the 15 minute bulletin too, they could move it to 5.15pm before Neighbours I suppose.
Not that surprised.
Kirsty Young has always tried being a player in the mainstream and while she had promise in 1997 - it has not led her to that much fame. I think she'll try to make her mark with the BBC now.
I like Kirsty - but even though she did well for ITV's 9/11 coverage she has not been a phenomenon.
Five is not the training ground for the kings and queens of news is it. She is chancing her luck with the BBC to see if she can be the next Natasha via the radio studios!

I always liked the half eight slot and the movie afterwards as the best schedule that was used by Five News. Between the teatime/Channel 4 News and the late news was a good idea.
I agree - back in the days when 5 News had an identity. Sky News, and arguably "five" in their last version from ITN, have completly ripped the show of it's identity.
Is that all the original Five line-up gone now then?
I thought Kirsty did quite well at ITV - I still remember her coverage of September 11th, talking to her husband in New York. When she was quit she had got herself up to second in the pecking order at ITV News really, behind Trevor McDonald, and I'm sure if she'd remained she'd have continued with the Evening News, if not replacing Trevor on the 10.30pm too.
I think C4 News would quite suit Kirsty actually - not so much the main programmes, but certainly the News at Noon and weekend editions.
Five News has had a lot of changes in the past, but it is still an integral part of the channels output. The partnership with Sky has definitely improved it’s output. It's a shame to see Kirsty leave - but with John Suchet doing such a good job, I can't see it being that much of a let down.
