I do hope that they follow CN West's style and have a nice big background of Nottingham behind the sofa, rather than the way Meridian have done it with just a boring blue screen with squares. I'm having my doubts though.

Saw Central News East at 1305 and was impressed...the set is like the CN West one and they had a mixture of the Meridian style blue squares and a scene, of what i think was Nottingham on the large screen behind the presenter! ...very impressive...

I don't suppose anyone was able to capture it were they?

Seems to be a nicer backdrop than Meridian's.

oh and as i watch now, the report freezes. So Birmingham can't keep up with having east midlands reports aswell!

Bring back the central cake and all that we remember from the good times

Why does CN East bother promoting itvregions.com - they even tell you that you can keep up with the "latest East Midlands news, 24 hours a day".

a) The site is crap and b) the news hasn't been updated since 31 January.

Why bother? It's a complete joke.

Calendar often advertise yorkshiretv.com where you can find out all the latest news plus everything you've ever wanted to know about Calendar and it's presenters.

It hasn't had any of that sort of content for months!

Central news gone, as we know it. Does this mean that the anouncer will basicly say "now on ITV1 in London, central news east, from Birmingham, and produced by <granada/ carlton/ ITV WHAT?>.

Oh no because we never seem to get a regional ident before the local news anymore. your lucky to get told the news is next!

What are you on about?

Don't think much of the dark picture on the screen. Looks like night time. Other than that, predictible, but very good Very Happy

Do they have animating astons?

I wonder why they've gone for the blue squares over a scene of Nottingham, I'm presuming that it's simply a still image so that they don't have to have a live camera being fed from Nottingham.

The blue looks slightly aqua to me around the screen, though if it's the same as Central West's it will be able to change colour, as they use blue for the News, Aqua/Green for Newsweek (even though the graphics are the usual blue and yellow) and yellow and orange for Central Soccer.

They have the same high backed seats as West, though I'm sure that they often have a laptop on the West Bulletins, it could just be some versions and I could be mistaken.

Yeah, I was wondering about the view too.

As I understand it, the new ITV Nottingham Newsgathering Centre is on an industrial estate, nowhwhere near the city centre. Is that right?

If that's the case, then a camera on the roof of the Newsgathering Centre would overlook a view that is not recognisably of Nottingham (one industrial estate looks much like another).

So, if the CNeast screen is indeed showing a still image, as fanoftv has speculated, I wouldn't be surprised. After all, it would be too much fuss to have a permanant camera on some random building that overlooks Notts city centre, but is nowhere near the Newsgathering Centre. The overlaid "blue squares" effect is clearly to detract from the fact that the image is static.

Was any proper "farewell" made on the final Nottingham 18:00 and 22:50 CNeasts on Friday?
