KAY BURLEY TO JOIN FIVE NEWS

Sky News presenter Kay Burley is joining Five News, it was announced today.
Burley will continue to anchor the Lunchtime Live programme on Sky.
In addition she will host the 5.30pm bulletins on Five over the summer as a stand-in for Kirsty Young, who is currently on maternity leave.
"What a treat - I'm very lucky," said Burley.
"Not only am I able to carry on with my Lunchtime Live programme but I'm also very much looking forward to meeting a whole new group of viewers on Five News."
Burley formerly worked at TV-am and was part of the original Sky News line-up.
She is best known for securing Sky's exclusive interview with Rebecca Loos about her alleged affair with David Beckham.
At Five she will become a regular face alongside John Suchet, Helen Fospero, Kate Gerbeau and Priya Kaur-Jones.

So she'll be a stand-in only after the maternity cover when she will only anchor the 5.30 programme. What about John? Personally i'd prefer Julie to return.

On a different note, why was Kate on the evening programmes the other day? WHo did the 11.30?

Personally, I wish Kate had a better profile with Five.

what is it with Five News? Bar Kirsty (who's only on a couple of a day a week when she's there) they never seem to have a stable presenting team, and it just seems like a place where Sky can dump their presenters/reporters for months at a time before they're whisked back to the main channel.

John's only there for 6 months so should finish in a couple of weeks when I presume Kay will start and I take it she will only do Monday-Wednesday. Presumably, Priya will present the 7pm bulletin as well as the updates.

Yeah. He started just after the New Year.


I will miss John..he is an excellent newscaster!
