I don't think Kay can have any complaints about the punishment from Sky- particularly when you consider how Sky have given her the benefit of the doubt in the past over various incidents.

Quite odd there is no mention of this story on the broadcast news, when they reported on the Rita Ora story. It doesn’t help the case for ‘Mainstream media’ that has had lots of criticism from some people over recent months.

I’m hoping Beth appears at the next conference so the likes of JVT can throw shade at her about everyone following the rule

I'd like to think that during a pandemic Van-Tam would have bigger priorities and better things to do than 'throwing shade' at journalists. Especially as he's shown himself as highly professional and provided no indication he'd do such a thing.

I obviously don’t mean directly. I mean similar to when he was asked about Cummings, and he said something like ‘the rules are for everyone’ and then twitter thought he’d been banned as he didn’t seem to appear for a while after that.

I can easily see Beth suggesting there should more restrictions, like she often does, and the response being something around the current rules being sufficient along as everyone complied with them.

Yes, she was stupid, she was wrong - though on the scale of some other issues this is a fairly minor infraction. What worries me is as a society we seem to hold journalists, actors, musicians and anyone else in the public eye to a higher standard than we seem to hold politicians now.

Also consider this - what happens the next time another politician or public figure breaks lockdown rules and Kay's the main presenter on during that story? If you use her to press the issue (which is one of Kay's strengths as a Journalist) - well now the subject can rightfully counter that she didn't follow the rules as well, and she can't ask if someone will resign without potentially someone pointing out she's still at Sky. Heck even outside Covid, it's a potential issue for interviews over corruption or rule breaking for the short term.

Yes, she's now lost credibility and trustworthiness and that is exactly what you need to be in her job!
She surely can't conduct the same kind of 'holding people to account' interviews anymore.

How will Sky cope with this front page on the Daily Mail for their paper review tonight?

No mention from Anna of why they were on the front page. Zipper

The full article in this link is an interesting read:

She had travelled from London (tier 2) to Coventry (tier 3) on Monday, ready to report from the hospital on Tuesday, knowing she had broken the rules on Saturday. She could have put hospital staff and vunerable people at risk.

Well I think that’s a stretch. There’s no suggestion that social distancing wasn’t observed, in fact I imagine there probably was some space between the various guests. Even if it wasn’t, Kay and other Sky staff would have and have been socially distanced on and off screen from hospital staff and patients. And I’d be surprised if there wasn’t some extra checks for all these extra visitors to the hospital today; temperature checks/rapid Covid tests.

Glad Anna mentioned this though - rather than ignore it! Even though, as mentioned above, she didn’t of course get into any details as to why they were there.

It seems Guido Fawkes are going for Inzy, appearing to claim his home is within a tier 3 area.

Piers and Susanna are discussing Kay and co with contributors on air. Piers said they are his friends, but saying Kay and co should be held to account as much as they hold politicians to account.

Kay Burley may be on the naughty step, but her name came up (incorrectly) in a caption at 7am on Sky News this morning 🤦‍♂️

Wasn’t that just the usual blue programme name caption? Same with the hashtag one in the top right corner?

I saw this tweet and thought it was funny:

They are still branding the programme as 'Kay Burley', even though she isn't there and presenter Niall doesn't ever say the name. The '#KayBurley' still showing in the corner during interviews too.

The problem with their current graphics is that it isn't obvious that it is the programme name written on the blue banner and not a general name caption!
Their programmes don't have distinctive logos or stylised text to make them stand out from other labels. And the programme name is literally just her name, so even more difficult.
