Think it's fair to say Sky probably won't be best pleased at the bad publicity due to the actions of some of their staff. Whatever the legality of it the optics aren't great - and don't exactly leave Kay or Beth in a position of strength to grill politicians on coronavirus.
I do have to say given how stringent TVF now is on presenter chat/'talking about presentes privates lives' it does feel odd to have Kay's Saturday night arrangements in incredible detail. But then I guess the public health element to this and how it impacts how Kay & Beth may be able to handle certain topics going forward means it's allowable in this scenario.

Indeed, doesn’t seem like a massive deal. Typical Guido though, who will put a spin on anything.
The Guardian have picked it up now. They're no friends of Guido!

Which would seem like a pathetic thing for anybody to get worked up about. However others are putting a very different spin on it

That depends on which part of the capital you live in. I'm in one of the lowest areas of London with new Covid cases, yet there are pockets, especially in East London where they're much higher and would agree that they should be in Tier 3 on a borough by borough casis.
Yes, but offically all of the London Boroughs are in Tier 2. The nearest Tier 3 zones are Slough, and all of Kent
I'm fully aware of that, but I'd rather see borough tiers instead of the situation we're in now where places like Bexley, Barking & Dagenham and Tower Hamlets are in Tier 2 with Tier 3 levels of cases. If you then stick the whole of the capital in Tier 3, it'd be unfair for those areas with lower case levels, some of which are some considerable distance away from the affected boroughs.
As an aside I agree, the system should be at local authority/borough level. In my area Hampshire, that's made up of 9 or 10 local authority areas, all with very different figures.
Back to the topic in hand, whether or not Kay Burley and friends were technically acting within the guidelines is irrelevant in my view, what she did was to cynically stretch the rules to the limit. That's certainly not in the spirit of the current measures.

The problem is that journalists should be the ones who lead by example. They are the ones who are reporting the facts and are the ones that the viewing public are getting their information from in what they are allowed and not allowed to do.
Rita Ora got a lot of flack for blatantly breaking the rules twice. But she’s not a figure of importance in telling us what to do.
Kay and Beth should have known much better. Much the same way as if a high profile newsreader was reporting on drug abuse, when they get caught being a drug taker themselves. It will be seen in a very hypocritical light by the employers and the public - and highly dubious that it was ‘inadvertent’ as Kay’s tweet suggests.
Interesting that The Guardian reports that Kay was in Coventry for today’s news - so does suggest that she’s been removed off air for today at least. Shall be interesting to see what happens to Beth given Brexit talks are reaching their conclusion.

Kay’s obviously the most high profile person and will bare the brunt of the backlash somewhat unfairly. Beth Rigby live on News at Ten last night, so hadn’t been ‘removed’ at that point, so it will be as said interesting to see if Beth appears today. It’s a case of just taking the heat of story of it, by removing Kay. Inzy and Sam are probably low profile enough to carry on their duties, although the latter seems to just work Fridays I believe?
I’m not sure any laws have been broken, if it was two ‘separate’ groups (no breach of rule of six) on a rooftop which is classed as an outdoor setting (no breach of household mixing in a indoor or private outdoor space). However all of that is perhaps not within spirit of the guidance and still questions the credibility of journalists involved. The only breach was entering a second venue to use the toilet facilities which I’m sure most people can forgive.

I think it’s unfair to have a go at Piers for not condemning Kay. Firstly Piers and Kay are known to be personal friends, it’s a little awkward to start having digs at friends on a public forum. Secondly, details are a bit sketchy, none of the party are going to clear up the details because of the possibility of it looking worse than it already is. Thirdly, as pointed above the alleged or potential breaches aren’t clear cut. Rita Ora’s incident was during the national lockdown ‘Stay at Home’ and restaurants were completely closed. Dominic Cummings, not only helped make the rules, he travelled with symptoms to Durham when advice was self isolate immediately and perhaps the most notable of all the trip Barnard Castle, a 1hr10mins round trip across County Durham, when again advice was ‘Stay at Home’ and no non essential travel.

Not sure how it is unfair? She had 4 people from different households back to her house after the 2nd restaurant visit according to the Guardian. She knew what she was doing.

She didn't help herself by tweeting her lukewarm 'apology'.
She is still 'trending' and receiving some awful comments (we know what a horrible place Twitter can be).
It will be interesting to see how long she will be off screen for during Sky's HR investigation.
