Put it this way, if Adam still has a job following the outburst towards Beth a year or two ago and other on air fracas, then I’d say Burley, Rigby and Washington are more than fine.
That’s not condoning what they did, I think it’s been a big mistake to think this would be ‘okay’. Breaches of regulations or not, it’s not within spirit of following the guidance set out.
But Adam retweeting people using terms such as ‘morons’ and seemingly making comments in one fashion or another to The Guardian is in bad taste. Nothing good to say etc. Not to mention Adam is probably the one person who tops Kay in the Twitter trolling stakes, he should know better than to use the retweet button all too hastily.

Bear in mind Sky has new owners since then. I’m sure Comcast won’t be as forgiving.
Burley’s position is untenable in her current position. No politician will take her seriously now.
No I read the article thank you. The following says that Adam has spoke to The Guardian.
Quote:
Speaking to the Guardian, Boulton noted that his retweets did not necessarily constitute endorsements. But he went on: “That said, I retweet things because I think they’re of public interest, and certainly my feed has reflected a lot of people who are very concerned about the credibility of Sky News, and that I think is the important issue: the credibility of our journalism”
My personal thought is that Adam shouldn’t of done that. Yes he’s not directly mentioned his colleagues there but he’s making references to his own retweets which called his colleagues ‘morons’. And he’s making a wider a point about the implications of their behaviour. You have the right to a differing opinion, mine is that Adam hasn’t shown himself or Sky in a good light. Looks like he’s having a cheap shot at them while there’s a scandal. I hear what you’re saying about further down praising her journalism, but I’m not sure it mitigates it. Personally I don’t feel we need his comment on it, just as much as we don’t need Sarah Hewson’s, Anna Botting’s or Stephen Dixon’s opinion on it. Freedom of speech yes but I feel this is from a professional and employer point of view, where restrain should be exercised.
I don’t really have a problem with anyone at Sky retweeting comments about this story. As you say it’s in the public domain; however tweets referring to them as ‘Morons’ or otherwise being offensive is another line completely.
It seems that most of the people who want Kay Burley and Beth Rigby sacked are mainly people who do not agree with their reporting, infact there seems to be a big twitter campaign to get them sacked from people who do not trust the "MSM". Ironically they are mostly people who do not believe in the lockdowns/restrictions or think they are necessary anyway.
...and back in 2010 the "Sack Kay Burley" brigade were from the politically opposite.
As for the transgression itself, well what I think some are grasping for is the idea that such a career could be ended so suddenly over something so trivial. Something that will look ludicrous in five years time (if we are pandemic free then). Often with these things, it's about timing, and this sort of 'exceptionalism' is exactly what people will pounce on.
The nation did it with Dominic Cummings,
.
No.
The Media
did it with Cummings. He was far from being a household name back in March, the media pointed out the transgression and in one of those circular self fulfilling prophesies started reporting we were all outraged by it.
What Cummings did is broadly the same severity as Burley and Co's adventure last weekend,

This is where we may have to agree to disagree as I’m aware this thread is perhaps going off topic! But I’m not sure I fully agree with the whole ‘retweets aren’t endorsements’ line. By retweeting you’re sharing it to your followers, I think the retweeter has a responsibility to ensure their RTs are appropriate. Not offensive or spreading misinformation for example. I’d have no issue with retweeting someone mentioning that Sky have removed the following presenters, it’s a fact. My issue comes with language ‘morons’ and the fact we’re getting into opinions on his colleagues behaviour. For me that crosses a line.
To bring this a bit back on topic, Anna Botting had to mention the front of Daily Star on last nights Press Preview. Featuring “some of our Sky News colleagues”. Kevin Maguire was seen have a bit of chuckle as Anna went into the first discussion.

Not really, Kay Burley wasn't involved in deciding the restrictions, didn't have Covid herself and she was in a Tier 2 area while Cummings made his trip during a national lockdown.
I'm not saying Kay shouldn't be sanctioned and spend some time off air, but for her to be sacked would be OTT from Sky
I think that whilst the actual rule-breaking aspect would frustrate bosses, if she were a correspondent (or someone not involved in interviewing/holding to account the Govt and politicians) then it could probably be brushed under the carpet and forgotten about come January. The main problem Sky has is that her job is to criticize the Government and politicians on their decisions relating to lockdown - having broken the rules makes her less credible, and begs the question: "why should the Government counteract her critiquing when she's broken the rules herself?". Having criticized those who broke lockdown restrictions (e.g. Cummings) this isn't a good look at all. She's front-and-center in Sky's news operations.

We have no idea (including Burley herself) whether or not she had or has Covid.
Because of that, it's all quite simple really. At any given moment everyone has to assume they may have it, and keep their distance. Equally everyone has to assume that those around may also have it, and obviously keep their distance.
Clinging hold of your colleague [1] isn't really compliant with that, and also having another colleague driving 250 miles, and from a Tier 3 zone to boot [1] isn't either.
[1] Asuming the photograph was taken on Saturday night, and report of that journey are true of course.

Well with the vaccines coming and already used, I don't think anyone will be interviewing politicians about lockdown for much longer so it is not something Kay, if she stays, will have to deal with a lot.
