Poor Karin has a sore throat or something, but she did really well this weekend to carry on regardless. Let's all hope she gets well soon.
Actually though, I believe newsreaders should not be made to go on air with colds or sore throats, it looks bad when they are clearly struggling and distracts from the news. Presenters should be in full voice at all times. Surely there is a backup presenter at all times or something? I remember Sophie Raworth taking over from Anna Ford halfway through the 1 o'clock news last year when she wasn't well.
Also, I'm worried that Karin may be too young and pretty for her own good. Management may think her too inexperienced or mistake her for an untalented bimbo. Others may be jealous that she has the whole package, looks, brains, youth and talent.
Finally, I could have sworn that Karin was pregnant two weeks ago, but now i'm not so sure. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
There are some infrequent occassions where a weather or news presenter does the 'other job'.
Carrie Frais read news bulletins but also did the weather occasionally for Five
On the local news Emma Jesson and Sara Blizzard have swapped the weather map for the news desk on the odd occasion.
And of course, Sara Thornton was a presenter on Anglia West before moving to weather.
Isn't that the best way to do it - it's surely harder to be a weather presenter and do all the fluffy stuff then have people take you seriously as a journo. Though i guess karin's the exception to the rule... Becky Mantin doesn t read the news does she?
