She's drop dead gorgeous, has a voice like honey, dresses impeccably and is an excellent journalist. Surely she's destined for great things. Forget Kaplinsky, Raworth et al, if the BBC put her on the 6 or 10 o'clock bulletin just once she'll take TV news by storm. Surely I can't be the only Karin G fan out there?
P.S Can anyone tell me if she was headhunted by the BBC from Sky or why she made the move? She's much better suited to the BBC, Sky was a bit beneath her.
I don't think that the overnight shift is the graveyard shift at all... The overnight bulletins are broadcast all over the world because of the simulcast with BBCWorld and in the Pacific region those bulletins are daytime bulletins.
Yes, and because opf that simulcast, I normally wake up with Deborah Mackenzie, Alastair Yates, Clarence Mitchell or Karinne.....whatever her name is.
However, in view of the clocks in the UK going forward last week, it now means that Dubai is only 3 hours ahead of the UK, and not 4, and hence I am able to see the first half hour of TWT these days. Superb.

Well as bad for you as it is for me! about a month ago us in New Zealand were 13hours ahead of the UK.... back then I could hardly ever get to watch TWT at 6pm our time because of the folk wanting to was National News then 2 weeks ago we put ours back which meant TWT started at 5pm my time which was good because no one is home around then..... NOW! the UK have put thier clocks foward which means ive got less than half an hour to get home from school and watch TWT at 4pm!.................... Oh god how boring...
But now I dont get to view any over night bulletins except for the weekend (when im not home) and in the holidays if im at home!
But it was good waking up to Alistair Yates at 8am mytime this morning!

Since it seems a lot of people still don't know Karin in this country, are there any overseas fans out there, where she can be seen at a reasonable hour?

Im in New Zealand I wouldnt say im a fan of her but I like her style! lol... reasonable times for me to see her would be from about 12-4pm on BBC World if she was doing overnights
Karin's very good - not really a star, but then again, I'm not sure if any BBC newsreader can be considered a star, even if some do crossover into the realms of presenting and/or entertainment...

When I called Karin a star in the making I meant purely within the field of TV News, the way Sir Trevor McDonald or Walter Cronkite are stars, for being very good at their job. I did not mean someone like Natasha Kaplinsky and her side projects. Whether you like her or not (personally I don't) most must surely agree that while strictly come dancing et al have added to her fame and fortune, they have done nothing for her credibility as a newsreader, and is probably why so many hate her. I don't think Sir Trevor McDonald should really be presenting the National Television Awards either, its beneath him.
Despite what i've just written please don't turn this thread into another round of Kaplinsky bashing, there's enough of that elsewhere. I just wanted to make the point that I believe Karin will become a star of television journalism, not for any other reason. A newsreaders place is on the news, not in OK magazine.
