Not of massive interest, I'm sure, but nonetheless worthy of note.

AP says she turned down the chance to renew her contract, and had decided to leave a while ago. She'll still contribute to programmes in a small way.

Bit of a surprise, I think. She must now be one of CNN's longest serving presenters, if not the longest serving still on air, and certainly the most high profile female political journalist in the US.

Shame to see her go. Was one of the few journalists who added a bit of credibility to the US output. Even if she was patently biased on occasion, certainly nothing like the plonkers over at Fox.

Over the years her input on CNN has been downgraded until she ended up with just the 'Inside Politics' show. This all started when Bernard Shaw left CNN. Until then Shaw and Woodruff were the lead anchors on CNN. Her on air presentation is always un-bias in my view.

Whilst I am not sure exactly what 'un-bias' means, I take it that you think she was a fair-minded sort of person?

Presumably you weren't watching the coverage of election night 2000, when she got weepy about Gore losing, and declared her misery about the state of the Democrats throughout the evening.

She was an excellent anchor, and brought a bit of experience to the channel, which it now lacks. But I think to say she was entirely fair to all - in the sense that political correspondents over here are - is very, very misguided.

I guess we can always find examples to support our view. I suspect the Conservatives don't believe that BBC News is wholely un-bias. I was sorry that CNN only used Judy Woodruff in a fairly minor role during the last Election. I personally rate her higher than Wolf Blitzer.
