Are journos impartial deliverers of news or do they mainly rejig government announcements for a living?

For me, it seems they just deliver the message of the day. Whether it's climate change or binge drinking, they seem to place this news high up on the running order and offer too few challenging opinions.

How should the profession move forward? YOU DECIDE! Wink

Well, since the Hutton Report, it is essential that BBC journalists practice self-censorship, for obvious reasons.

I'm not too bothered on this one but I do think there should be more blondes reading the news.
Just my opinion,like.

It depends whether you're watching Pants Worst or any other "news" programme. The quotes are intentional, by the way.

If the former, they just rejig ANY announcement if they have seven spare seconds, otherwise they just broadcast it without bothering to rejig it at all.

If the latter, there's just a chance of something a bit more.

I always enjoy reading Nick's comments - if only because they justify his undisputed title as the Jerry Springer of hospital radio.
Forever stirring up a commotion among the bedpans.
