I think that it is more likely Andrew Marr will anchor the election progorammes, both for the EU elections, in 2009 and the General Election in 2009/10.

Would be an interesting event if both elections occurred on the same day!

Wouldn't be that interesting. Even if the General and European elections occurred on the same day then the European results wouldn't be counted until the Sunday. [I'm making the assumption that polling wouldn't have shifted to a Sunday by then.]

Agree with Noggin that it's much more likely to be Huw Edwards that replaces Dimbleby, with some role for Marr, possibly in the Paxman interview role.

How selfish of ITV. Why bother getting him to host the Election programme, then axe his flagship programme four months on?

He had a contract, which probably involved ITV paying him lots of money, so not very selfish at all. The contract is coming to an end. They may agree a new one, they may not. Grow up.

Yesterday's Evening Standard also had a big interview with Crossley-Holland. Dimbleby is still in talks with ITV about his future role.

Meet The Press? As in the 1960s regional Tyne Tees turned network production?

Actually scratch that, that programme was Face The Press. But even so, it is a somewhat "retro" title...

ITV will probably have to fork out money to NBC who own the "Meet the Press" name and format.
