Tomorrow night at 11pm there is a live phone in wtih John Pilger, hosted by John Nicholson.
I think 11pm is slightly too late for the programme, perhaps 9pm or even 10pm would be more appropriate?

why are they showing TWO documentaries? Surely one at 9pm then the discussion at 10pm is fair - or would that clash with the ITV1 evening news?

Yep, the ITV1 News is on at 10.30pm. Hence the phone-in being pushed back to 11.

Does anyone else get the feeling that no-one has bothered to join the phone-in currently on the ITV News Channel?

Quite likely, Owan.

They were plugging it to death over the end credits of Island at War on ITV1, so I assumed it was expected to be as popular as a jellyfish on a Dorset beach!

Ah they have now had three callers and one has rubbished Pilgers documentaries!

Its better than I expected it to be!

Obviously this type of programming/discussion is more suited to radio as there isnt much to look at throughout the discussion so far!

Now I see your captures, I'm not surprised they've not got many callers.

An 0870 number is practically premium rate since the tarriffs changed and it's become national rate, but with no discount allowed whatsoever.

They're charging 5p a MINUTE for those calls, whereas everything else is now 5.5p an HOUR.

Many radio stations use 0870 numbers for phone-ins, including talkSPORT and LBC, and it doesn't seem to put off too many people.

Besides, they usually call people back before putting them to air, and I think that what ITVNC have been doing.

Good for them if they are, but pardon me if I don't make the initial huge investment of keying "087" to find out.

News Channel and the radio stations would either have to ring back or broadcast in delay in any case, to keep within the regulations from the "other" department of OFCOM.

Oh, I feel sorry for the two Johns and ITV News Channel -- but it was a bit late to have a phone-in, wasn't it? For people, like me, who work night shifts they could watch it.
At least, the News Channel could have shown the Pilger documentaries a little bit earlier e.g. 8pm-10.30pm. I bet if ITV News did that, they would easily get at least a million viewers.

John Pilger, somehow, if you are still on - I enjoy the Pilger documentaries and I thoroughly enjoyed, as well, the phone-in John Nicolson conducted with you, regardless of the Pilger season haters say.

The final Pilger phone-in is tonight at 10, if anyone's interested.
