Sky have decided not to employ James Bays, when they take over the production of Five News in January 2005.

Thats a bit of a shock.

He was one of the better reporters that the channel employed. I was under impression that he was probably one of the leading figures in the channels reporting team, always at the heart of the channels forign big news coverage,

Any news of the other team members.

He could be very useful for the ITV News Channel then?

Will Charlie Stayt be going to Sky? I suppose he will since he's one of the main newscasters, but I think it would be worth ITN trying to keep him, maybe for the ITV NC.

Personally, I think SKY will sack most five news correspondents, and employ them with Sky News. Then on Five News they will just use Sky reporters. Very Happy <it does make sense>

I agree completley, for some reason I can't see Charile Stayt or Rob Butler being a Sky presenter, they would be better if they stayed at ITN, using them on ITV NC would be a good idea.

I just think it is a shame that no-one at ITN Five News is going to remeployed by Sky News, the only person who is definately staying on is Kirsty Young, as she is contracted to Five, not ITN, and to be honest she is probably my least favourite out of the team.

I think ITN should try and keep Charlie Stayt, Rob Butler and Elaine Parke. But I honestly can't see a lot of them staying at ITN. It would be very stupid to just instantly instate a whole new presenting team ( with the exception of Kirsty Young ). I mean Rob Butler and Charlie Stayt have been presenting their respective bulletins since 1997, and it would senseless to just get rid of them after 8 years.

Thank goodness I'm not in a minority of one in hating the girl who appears to have had her only training at "The Anna Ford school of talking down to you as if you're a turd on the pavement".

That's not true. Several staff have been offered jobs on the new service and are considering them.

Re: Kirsty Young. She is a fabulous presenter. As well as being a naturally friendly woman, she also is VERY good at her job. Presenting is not just about sitting there reading autoue, but also about coping with timings and making things look seamless if things go wrong. And she does it exceptionally well. And she is EXCELLENT at interviews.

Of the 10 on-screen reporters who applied, only four were offered positions on the new bulletin.
