Just bringing the thread back into news speak, I think Sky News have been ridiculous with it. Apparently they've been running the story since 7.30am and its still going, with the odd break to sport.

No, when i was watching Sky around lunchtime it was top story but they weren't even doing 10 minutes on it

Were Living planning to show Jade's Wedding again tonight or is it their idea of a tribute show?

Not according to the schedules so looks like it is a tribute.

I caught a bit of Channel 4 news earlier, they had some reverend on likening her to a biblical prophet. These people seriously need to get a grip.

Not that long ago the media were calling her pig face, chav scum, racist scum, thick scum etc, then she gets an illness & she is a princess, a role model & a wonderful inspiring human being, Glenda Slagg journalism at it's finest.

Not just them though, not that long ago Gordon Brown was attacking her for her comments, for the last several months he has been paying tributes to her, what exactly has any of it got to do with him anyway, has he not got more pressing issues than Celebrity Big Brother & OK Magazine?

Some cynics among us may just think he comments on such things to get cheap publicity & kudos with younger people, so really not much different from Jade is he?

The thing with Gordon Brown (and others who needlessly added tributes) is probably more to save mass hysteria than actually obtaining cheap publicity.

Everybody jumps on the bandwagon when there is a minor controversy such as the PM not commenting on the passing of a Z lister who most people actually disliked.

Still, I think it'd be be more appropriate for one of the royals (maybe one that's involved with a cancer charity) to comment on a situation like this than the prime minister, or any other politician.

hasn't all the money made form this publicity gone into a trust fund for her sons?

All the money? I doubt it. Max Clifford doesn't come cheap.

Then there's the extra money newspapers and magazines have made out of her illness and death. In fact there are suggestions that certain publications have even been charging advertisers a premium to place ads in their Jade tribute issues. I doubt her sons will ever get to see any of this money.

Well no, but the world still has to turn, and everyone wants their share - this will probably be OK's highest circulation this year.

No doubt Clifford negotiated hard for the interview and pictures fee for Jade's story. Everyone has made a buck.

Unpalatable, but true.

There is some snobbery about this story - a working class girl dies of cancer and the middle classes didn't really like her. But she was well respected within the working class because she was a self-made woman, she went from rags to riches.

I do think the media over played it and ironically when her death came, it wasn't a big deal.

The Sun, for one, is dedicating a large amount of its pages to Jade - as it states on the front cover, "pages 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 - plus a special 18-page pull-out tribute". It is indeed very sad news, but I can't help feeling that this is going too OTT.

Found it ironic how Clifford was on his boat in Portugal at the time. Hmm

That's a very odd assessment, what are you basing it on? I doubt that Jade's supporters and detractors can be so simply defined by their socio-economic group.

'Self-made woman' is also quite a strange tag to pin on her 'celebrity career' when there are many advisers and consultants who no doubt made more money than her through exploitation over the years. 'Self-made' implies some sort of control which perhaps wasn't always evident.
