I can't see Tyne Tees getting the new studio until they move to their new Television Centre in Gateshead this summer.

Anyone have any idea of the exact location of TV Centre. It's certainly somewhere around the Northern areas of the MetroCentre, and overlooking the Tyne. I've seen some buildings which looked similar to a building seen on the North East Tonight report about it near the MetroPark West area, near the roundabout which leads to the Car/Coach route and the MetroCentre train station. Alternatively it could be in the business park directly behind the train station. Or is it somewhere else?

Oh, and it's not certain that a London style set will be brought in, TTTV has a set design division (they also made Lookaround's set), which although nothing special, looks better than London Tonight's set. I can't see Mike in that sort of environment somehow - no full size desk??? I'd really like to see something along the lines of Tyne Tees South, essentially just blue colours on the wall and a glass partition with the gallery behind. It's been the same since Bilsdale opened, and works well.

Really, that looks better than anything that's come from ITV London. Images from ttlp.org.uk

for how much longer will tttv have their own set design people? with no regional shows, north east tonight's style and content decided at itn in london ... the future looks bleak.

I was told by someone that they did external work as well - apparently the same reason applies to the website - not so sure how long they will last because even if that information is true I bet ITV Plc. will try their hardest to close it down. At least Signpost BSL is continuing.

I don't know which Regions will be next, I'm guessing Tyne Tees or ITV Wales.

Ooo no I hope not, HTV viewers are far too used to a small, dark studio full of health and safety hazards -- and there are some people's legs I honestly couldn't cope with seeing.

Anyway Welsh news programmes don't like change -- there haven't been any new looks in the four years this forum's been around. It took HTV a year to change their screensaver.

We had a new look last February, new titles, graphics, the studio was changed around, and a nice new screen in the small bulletin studio.

are ITV planing on changing the names of the local shows? So that all of the programs have the same ending and the regional company name gone, like HTV news?

Well now young Jez, all that changed was the screen moved from the left over to the right, and three words stuck on the back wall -- that's it really.

Of course the titles changed, but I think this thread is really on about new style studio sets.

I wonder if it's possible to take on the new style studio but with an ITV news style desk instead of sofa and mini table. It would suit HTV's self-styled 'national news programme', and besides which Jon and Lucy are so tiny their legs would dangle off the sofa, not touching the floor -- not really a good look.

I dont know if there is anything going on with Calendar but for the last couple of times that I have caught it ( this week). The news has been presented from the main news room with a plasma screen to the rear and left of the presenter.
