With Central East this week, and what's looking like Calendar next week, is this the regions so far that have been ITV-ised ? :

London
Central West
Central East
Meridian
Yorkshire (next week ?)

When I say ITV-ised, I mean had the generic look applied to their regions in the London Tonight style. I expect this look will continue to be rolled out to all regions (scotland & utv excepted) over the year.

Is there any variation at all in the sets that have been rolled out so far or do they all follow the format of large screen to the rear, plasmas either side, aqua blue walls, grey benches, coffee table ? Any of them broken the mould ?

Not all regions seem to have laptops on the coffee table - Meridian doesn't - and Bob Warman doesn't use one on Central West, though his co-presenter does.

And only London and Central West - so far - have proper screens rather than static backdrops.

I think after Yorkshire, Granada will probably be the next, as someone on the Forum has said a new set is in development, though there is no proof, the current set is being used far less than what it usually is. As I've also said they usually have normal shots of the studio (an overview, with cameras in sight), but these have disappeared, which made me think if a new set is being constructed across the old one.

I don't know which Regions will be next, I'm guessing Tyne Tees or ITV Wales.

They don't have the Simon Jago-designed London-style set though

Some caps of the corporate sets. Can anyone add some from Central for comparison?

But when Channel tv had there revamp they did not have the London Tonight look implemented. Instead Channel just have one sofa which is Blue instead of Grey, Looks kind of like the old Central News West sofa. Channel also have a sperate presentation area on a raised platform next to the sofa. Channel's new set is awfully like the temporary sets introduced in the Central region last year when ITV regions went corporate, the only difference being that the Channel set is there permanent one.

Well surely if ITV knew that this would be the look to be rolled out across the regions, it would have made sense for Border to adopt this look last year with London. Unless it is just an idea they came up with after the relaunch. I would say that the Border set will be with us for a few years, and by then, there may be a new generic set for the regions, so regions like Border may never adopt the current look.

I can't see Tyne Tees getting the new studio until they move to their new Television Centre in Gateshead this summer.

Anyone have any idea of the exact location of TV Centre. It's certainly somewhere around the Northern areas of the MetroCentre, and overlooking the Tyne. I've seen some buildings which looked similar to a building seen on the North East Tonight report about it near the MetroPark West area, near the roundabout which leads to the Car/Coach route and the MetroCentre train station. Alternatively it could be in the business park directly behind the train station. Or is it somewhere else?

Oh, and it's not certain that a London style set will be brought in, TTTV has a set design division (they also made Lookaround's set), which although nothing special, looks better than London Tonight's set. I can't see Mike in that sort of environment somehow - no full size desk??? I'd really like to see something along the lines of Tyne Tees South, essentially just blue colours on the wall and a glass partition with the gallery behind. It's been the same since Bilsdale opened, and works well.

Really, that looks better than anything that's come from ITV London. Images from ttlp.org.uk

for how much longer will tttv have their own set design people? with no regional shows, north east tonight's style and content decided at itn in london ... the future looks bleak.
