Slightly OT, but at 12.00pm today ITV News made an appearance on ITV1, ITV2 and ITV3.
I agree there is really no point in ITV's 2 and 3 to carry News, maybe some form of a 60 Seconds style service could work on ITV2, but I would only favour this if it helped raised the profile of the NC. (i.e. Telling viewers to switch over to the NC for more) 60 Seconds is a good idea for BBC3, IMO it's just on the wrong channel, it would work better on a Sky or ITV channel.
Also technically ITV2 does have News at 6.00am in the form of The News Hour from GMTV. (And it has done for the last six years now)
I was thinking about this earlier, it's getting really freaky today.
I wouldn't want a full bulletin on ITV2 as such, but I'd like updates.
Sometimes I could be watching ITV2, and in matters like the current (especially boxing day and throughout last week) feel the need to leave the programme just to catch up on the news.
I wouldn't mind a couple of quick all the news you need to know in 15 minutes jobs, if it was more Newsbeat on TV rather than the first carnation of the 7 O Clock news.
But I would like some 2news updates, not 60 seconds, more 2-3 minutes, a bit like the Channel 5 of old, on the hour, every hour jobs.
It would just suit me more as a viewer to get a full update of the news rather than just Entertainment News, it's ok, but I'd much prefer to see that covered within a news update or within a liquid news/entertainment today style of show.
I certainly don't feel that Entertainment News should be on ITV3.
Perhaps they should trial them on ITV2 aimed at their target audience, if it takes off have their own updates on ITV3 and maybe even one day ITV1.
Or is it just me that always feels like they want to know what's happening?
After all, almost every radio station provides news updates on the hour, why can't TV stations, especially the leading commercial company in the UK.
