ITV2 Entertainment News Updates

Are these shown every night, or only when there is a movie on?

I notice they only appear in the listings when a movie is showing in the evening.

There are two movies on Wednesday, and two updates scheduled. But none tonight or tomorrow.

I haven't caught one in ages, I have to say. Are they usually done by one of the ITVNC breakfast presenters or something?

They are usually done by one of the evening presenters on the NC - I have seen Owen Thomas, Joyce Ohajah and Phil Gayle present the updates.

I think it is usually the same presenter who does the ITV News Network and London Tonight at 10.50.

There should be a new style to it - I believe it should be done from the atrium. And at the start of the programme, the camera pans from the highest level of the ITN Headquarters to the relevant floor level. And there should be an ITV2 or an ITN continuity announcer saying "This is the ITV2 Entertainment News Update with Heather McCarthy" or whoever is on duty at the time.

What is the music like??? Is it a variation of the main theme, or the same.

I still don't get why they can't provide a news update, especially now that five have moved out, it wouldn't be that complicated, just a quick summary either throughout the day or on the hour through the evening schedule.

Though I can't see if they provide an entertainment update, why they can't do a 2news update for ITV2.


Or am I going to have to turn to a news channel or BBC Three to find out the news?

I also don't understand why they have the update on ITV3, surely the demographic for ITV3 wouldn't care what Britney's up to.

I wouldn't mind them going the whole hog and producing a liquid news style programme, or seeing entertainment news along with other headlines.

Presumably because showbiz stuff is usually a little less time-sensitive and doesn't need to be live.

Probably because ITV2 don't want to pay for a news service or don't feel it would be warranted on that channel. Whether or not any news provider or company has resources available to produce it doesn't matter.
