ITV Yorkshire Calendar Van appears in Bucks

Probably not the best of threads but amusing for me to see (June 2005)

Not overily newsy this thread but as curious find none the least.

There I was driving through a residental area in Bletchley (North Buckinghamshire) and I overtook a White Ford Transist looking van. However this van was a little special. It was pretty sparse with logos on the back was ITV News on one of the doors and on the side was the four squares of ITV and in big letters "CALENDAR NEWS"

Why a van that's more at home in Yorkshire than in Bucks would suddenly appear is a question work asking. Little disapointed that there was no mention of Yorkshire on the van but then ITV is no longer a regional beast as it once was.

I saw a "BBC WEST" van driving through Pembroke (SW Wales) a few years ago, even though the BBC West region is 150 miles from there!

I've also seen a Meridian TV lorry in Swansea!

Calendar covering something sport related maybe? Any of the local teams got an away match down there?

Well the road that the van was coming out is densely residental with no leisure/sport facilities within the area. Sport is very limited in Bletchley/Milton Keynes. For those that know, we have to nick a football team, I.E. Wimbledon to get some footy in the area!

Could it be something to do with the fact that SISlink, who are supplying ITV's new fleet of satellite trucks for the regions, are based in Milton Keynes?

YTV still have their old Calendar truck from 1995, complete with map of Yorkshire and flying circular objects...

I've seen a Granada OB Truck that had the 90's Granada stripe down the side, even with the words 'Granada Television' printed underneath.

Well Kingston is part industrial estate and part retail (well mainly one big Tescos) and is situation practically to the door of J13 of the M1. In relation to where I found the van in Bletchley is a good 10 minutes from Kingston once you have navigated around all the roundabouts! It could that the driver lived locally so it's one possible link.

Reminds me of when I saw a car with Big Breakfast transfers all over it parked up by a dodgy garage in Halesowen, ages after the programme had finished

Another random observation in a similar vein... One of the bus comanies in Leeds had a fully-liveried Invicta FM (Kent) bus in regular service for a while a few years ago. I wonder if someone got confused between Leeds, Kent and Leeds, West Yorkshire.

I saw an SIS truck the other day in Bradford Forster Square and a Globecast truck in Huddersfield.
