Is the bridge in that shot the same bridge as the one on the new Meridian tonight?!

Maybe this is ITV's plan... put a very generic-looking landmark on every background, and everyone will think it's something near them.

The bridge in the backdrop for Anglia West is in Bedford.

Tim Curtis did seem genuinely upset announcing that is was his final programme, and did do one final name check, referring to the station as Anglia Television. Smile

I do think the logical choice for the new programme would have been Tim Curtis and Clare Weller.

As for the new programme itself, the backdrop used is Norwich – maybe Cambridge would have been a better choice as being more central in the region. With the titles being a mix of the previous images from both sub regions, with the Anglia knight shot remaining! The opt-out section came after the first two main reports, Look East style. To give Anglia credit they did admit to the ‘new look’ now covering the whole region.

It wasn’t a bad programme, but most of the reporters seemed to be twenty something females lacking in authority. To pad out the last part of the programme an awful “top 3 stories watched on our website today” was featured.

Interestingly, Look East had Olympic swimmer Mark Foster as a guest presenter standing in for Stuart White.

Dark clouds loom on the horizon and anyone working in local news must be asking themselves is there really any future.
These figures are really quite alarming.

Unnecessary duplication showbiz? Given your stance on regional ITV I'd have thought you'd have been against that sort of thing?

..... and so the curtain comes down tonight on the remains of Independent Television from Plymouth tonight, thanks to all the presenters over the years even the bad ones. It's a big shame.

Its a shame theres no new studios. Central and London have had their 5th Christmas in these sets. Maybe Meridian too?

Huge staff terminations, the end of regional TV in many areas, the end of ITV... That is a concern. The 'old' set is not.

I must be on the wrong forum then! Discussing TV presentation on here, how wrong am I!

not saying the comment is wrong - the place is right, the timing is wrong.

i'm sure when you leave school and when/if get a job you will feel a bit more human about such things (assuming you are one of our younger members...) there is a right time to say things

Perhaps you ought to learn the difference between 'studio' and 'set' before you get on your high horse, onsky.
