Maybe I was unclear in my previous post, Did any Members hear of any comments during the broadcasts of the Mid Morning ITV Regional News that this would be the last Regional Mid Morning Belletin ? Was anything actually mentioned by the Bulletin Presenters ?

They've just had Alex Watson doing the weather on Tyne Tees. There seems to be quite a lot of 'filling in' going on...

Tyne Tees reporter Julia Bathram and presenter Alex Watson who left in late 2007 for maternity leaves have returned. Though I thought they would be made redundant (once their maternity leave was paid) but I'm glad they haven't as they are decent.
Many of their reporters must have left, as only a handful of them seem to be appearing nightly though more regularly than before.

Kim Inglis (who was thought to have left on Dec 18th, following another presenter saying "Here's Kim with her final news desk") returned today presenting the lunch bulletin - though she may just be back for February.
Philippa Tomson (NET North presenter) begun presenting weather forecasts today, and I've just checked ITV Local and she appeared on Border and Tyne Tees, with Jo Blythe on Granada, and Jon Mitchell on Yorkshire.
Kim must be filling in Philippa's former roles for the next couple of weeks then.

It looks as though the new regional bulletin for West/Westcountry begins on Saturday 14th February. I thought Border/Tyne Tees were merging at the same time, but Radio Times is still showing their usual seperate programmes next week.

Accrording to radiotimes.com, there's still a national news bulletin at 11.15am from next Monday but no regional bulletin afterwards.
The listings for the following Saturday suggest that there's no lunchtime regional bulletin - but, of course, listings after next Friday aren't confirmed yet and are still full of TBAs.
However the big changes - Tyne Tees, Border, West and Westcountry - don't happen until the 16th.

And now, the end is near...
Westcountry Live is looking quite evidently understaffed as it enters its final week, stetching out a meagre handful of actual news content and padding furiously. Julie Skentelbery, who seems to be the only senior reporter left, covered all the weekend's bad weather news (traditionally Westcountry would have done a multi-reporter 'around the region' package, with random studio teaming Bob Cruwys and Jemma Woodman taking every opportunity to fill a minute or two with idle chit-chat. The sub-regional opts are gone, needless to say (perhaps sparing ITV the need to drag an untrained member of the backroom staff to present again). Most noticable of all, the sport was stretched to an unfeasible length given that many of the weekend fixtures had been postponed, with Jeff Welch then taking the opportunity to indulge himself in a lengthy rant about modern football clubs' attitude to the weather.
It's all a long way from the early days of Westcountry Live when it all seemed far too slick and newsy after dear old TSW.

She left this evening. She briefly mentioned it at the end of the bulletin. She didn't want to make a fuss I suppose, as her sacking gained a lot of regional press.

Does anyone know if Clare Weller has left Anglia News East as yet?

It's been very dignified and rather sad, reporters disappear and are never mentioned again . No one dares mentions the changes coming next week. The fillers have been cheerfully ironic with reporters and presenters trying out an alternative job they wish they had chosen as a career instead.
Today was more like a food show with three yes three food related items. A top chef promoting fish , a reporter trying out work at a chip shop and a local firm who makes marmalade and jam.
Good thing i'd eaten by then.
Plenty of proper news in there as well , shows what a big (over) staff they had in Plymouth.
Funny how when I think someones gone they turn back up again like Emma Snowdon did today in Truro. It seems a lot of the doomed regions dropped the senior reporters and kept the newer ones or let them work these few weeks longer.
Anyway i'll stop rambling and leave the ranting until Friday.
