ITV wants to axe some regional news services

Is there any word as to what the merged Tyne Tees / Border programme will be called?

If it wasn't for the Southern Scotland part of the patch, it would be fairly straightforward to give it a geographical name like North Today. But I guess they'll have to go for something generic. Maybe the rather twee Lookaround name will be used across the whole area... which might also help to placate some disgruntled Border viewers.

Don't know, but I saw a bit of a report on the ITV Evening News about this last night, it is offical the merged West/Westcountry region will become ITV South West, they appear undecided for TTTV/Border, hence why they put it as ITV Tyne Tees & Border.

Although North Today/Tonight is what they use on STV North, I can't see why they can't call it The North at 6 or ITV North News.

Because it includes South Scotland, not just the North of England.

Unless this article has got it hideously wrong, it looks like both programme names will be retained during the 15 minute opts, although no word on what the final 15 minutes will be branded as. If this turns out to be true I think I'd rather they adopted the Lookaround name across the whole programme as I imagine the transition from the opts to the joined programme will look sloppy.

Whilst I don't buy into Graeme Thompson's BS I do have to concede that it is a strong presenting team. The problem is that an awful lot of other equally strong presenters and characters have been lost from both regions.

The article also confirms that Philippa Tomson will be the region's weather presenter.

When does Lookaround and Westcountry Live finish then .

not normally one to get involved in forum nagging, but is it really that hard to look back 4 or 5 posts to find the answer?

If you don't have the skills to reseach even the most basic information why bother participating on a public forum? I'm sure you could make a bit of an effort to avoid looking like an muppet..

Anyway getting back on track.Did anyone see the late Border news tonight.I felt rather sorry for Miranda Wilson she ended the bulletin on a personal note .

She was very professional but you could tell she was speaking from the heart .I felt quite sorry for her she looked so sweet i hope she and the others at Border who are leaving manage to get a job .

Perhaps because that name is taken already by the daytime version of a news team thats actually in the 'North' ie. Grampian / STV North

Richard Bath and Alexis Bowater to leave ITV.

No surprise there really. Although both are already the presenters of The West Tonight, Westcountry viewers would recognise both from National news bulletins.

Does anyone know where John Harkins,Heather Larcombe,and Susannah Boccaccio are these days i haven't seen them on Border for ages.

How ironic that Peter Cadbury wanted Westward to take over the TWW/HTV region in the 1960/70's. Of course it had to be the other way around didn't it.
