itv wales news sensation - GOES NATIONWIDE !

Phew, had me worried there for a minute. No posts from any insiders , though , to say what the problem is at itv wails recently - bolloxes too numerous to mention. Something to do with the new digital installation ?

Well there are no bulletins on ITV1 Wales today with it being New Years Day, but yesterday Almeena Ahmed presented and announced that Andrew Jones will be back with GMTV Wales tommorow morning.

So business as usual tommorow then!

Just think of James Wright, and you'll be as right as ninepince Jez.

Strange how being a weather presenter doesn't stop Jayboy from presenting news on CNE! He occasionally fills on Central in for Chaz or Em if they are skivi...er... taking a well-earned rest

True but he is on ITV Wales weather about 3 times a week and only does Central Weather on the odd occasion as 95% of the time Chaz and Emma are there. So he isnt as much of a weather presenter on Central.

He won't be pleased to hear you say that!

I did once ask him by email about this. He implied it was silly that ITV Wales don't let him present news, because he is "too associated with weather. Oddly Central don't seem to have that problem!!".

He is actually quite good a news-presentation IHMO. He does have a good sense of humour when it comes to the light-stories

I believe that Emma Jesson has presented a few daytime bulletins for CNW. I believe somebody on this forum commented she wasn't that credible, because she "never lost that facetious tone from her voice"!

It seems a little strange that ITV Wales take that attitude with JW, especially when you recall its other main weather forecaster Ruth Wignall has read bulletins for ITV Wales

Well itv Wales dont really need James to present news bulletins, we already have plenty of news readers - Andrew Jones, Justina Simpson, Sorrell Neil, Chris Perry, Rob Shelly, Lewis Vaughan-Jones, John Paul Davies and now Almeena Ahmed to name just some of them.

It annoys me when they cannot stick to presenting one thing. One minute John Paul and Chris Perry are sports presenter, then they are doing news bulletins. It would be like David Chisnall presenting the news and then the sport and then the news again on Central East

Well Ruth is an ITV Wales presenter - James seems to be freelance as he turns up on Central West, Central East, ITV Wales, ITV West. basically whoever is short of a presenter gets him.

Where is Zoe Thomas? - havent seen her on ITV Wales for ages. She went missing for weeks before and I assumed she had left but then she turned up for 1 day presenting Wales Tonight and then went again. I hope she comes back, I liked her.

Referring back to my email from James Wright ^, he said he was freelance and that he "does corporate work too. Television is nowhere near as lucrative as it used to be". It's alright for some isn't it!

CNE do tend to be more consistent with presenters' roles. David Chisnall has only presented a couple of CNE news bulletins, but that was a while ago-- he's firmly ensconced as CNE's sports presenter now

Curiously in contrast, CNW often use their sports presenters as deputy news-presenters-- presumably the same way as ITV Wales news does?

ITV Wales seem to have no male stand in presenters for the 6pm when Jon Hill isnt there. They use sports presenters, usually Richard Morgan, but occasionally John Paul Davies.

Well Juliet Piper and Richard Morgan presented yesterday's Wales Tonight, so Lucy and Jon are still on their Christmas Break - unless Lucy is presenting for ITN in London again!

I must admit I never thought it would catch on- but it did ! Yesterday the whole network - with the miserable exception of those reactionaries in Westcountry adopted the itv wales minimalist approach to the gmtv news.
I have never seen andrew more dynamic -shuffling papers around for a whole 4 mins - and not a word. The surreal art community is in turmoil at these jumped - up newsreaders stealing their thunder: impressionist marcel marceau is in real tears , by all accounts. However Anglia had to take it too far and pretend to be a soap opera, ffs. No class on the eastern seaboard whatsoever. Tut - Tut.

Any stories from other regions ? Come on , some of you must have been up and about at 8 am.

Broadband Cowboy, do you mean yesterday rather than today? I ask as Anglia's little incident was yesterday. I think the only region that didn't go to news was London, which was normal GMTV but in 14:9 when I checked it's Sky channel.

You're right I got carried away , and opted in too late - I think I'm catching the gmtv news disease. What's wrong with this forum these days ? A few years ago this would have been 20 pages by now.....
