What was Andrew Jones upto on the ITV Wales Lunchtime News bulletin today?

Just after 12:30 we saw Andrew Jones reach over to the front of the desk and flip something off - moving an item quickly onto the floor, then looked at the camera and began the bulletin as if NOTHING had actually happened!??

I can take or leave the morning bulletins Mon-Wed when Andrew Jones is normally on, I don’t like him. I didn’t see it but this is the second time in the last few weeks something has gone wrong on one of his bulletins. Sally Johnson is much better, thank god we have her reading the GMTV bulletins some times.

It might have been his note saying "Please say a nice hello to all the analogue ITV West viewers who are also watching you, due to 'technical difficulties' in their region".

Viewers in the West got to see Andrew Jones, lucky them

PS Has anyone else noticed that every night this week Lucy Cohen has said,"You're watching the news from ITV Wales."

SO the name has changed from Harlech, HTV, HTV Wales, HTV Cymru Wales, HTV, HTV (ITV), HTV(ITV1), ITV1Wales and now ITV Wales!

Just when we got used to saying ITV1Wales there is now another variant - ITV Wales! I take it HTV dont make the Wales news now instead its made by ITV Wales?

Ive noticed her say that Owan, but then the program is called ITV Wales News so she would hardly say the news from ITV1 Wales would she.
HTV still hold the licence for ITV in Wales I think so HTV and ITV Wales are essentially the same thing, they just call it ITV1 Wales/ITV Wales News so its in-line with what the other regions have done.

Not wishing to be accused of any form of exaggeration, but he was ten million times better that the normal offering from Bath Road.

After all, The Bristol Evening Post hasn't been published by the time the 12:30 goes out, so they haven't got anything to talk about!

Thanks for those captures owan.

Last nights ITV Wales News was presented by Juliet and Steve for a change. I wonder who will be on this weekend.

Regional Progs for this week on ITV Wales;

Sunday: 12.55pm The Visit
Monday: 11.00pm Karaoke Queen
Tuesday: 7.30pm Birdwatcher - Incredible Journeys
Thursday: 7.30pm Secrets of St Fagans, 11.00pm Soccer Night
Friday: 10.00pm Witches Brew, 11.00pm Welsh Learner of the Year, 11.30pm Guess Who's Coming to Dinner?

So quite a few regional progs this week, half of them are opt out's of the network though so ITV arent giving many slots to the regions.

It's Phillipa Meaken this weekend, Owan will be pleased! Very Happy

I noticed during the week they have now incorporated the weather into all news bulletins, and it looks like thats the case at the weekend too, btw Emma Jesson presented the weather today Laughing

Who? Ive just put it on now and Felicity Barr is on there (also on the ITV News on ITV1)

Oh dear - the teatime bulletin of ITV Wales News was such a shambles. First of all no caption with the name of the presenter (Phillipa Meaken), then a caption came up for the result of Wrexham's football match before it was time for it, then Phillipa introduced the weather, and just after Emma was starting the forcast, all of a sudden it was back to Phillpa who told us it was the end of the bulletin, then for about a minute afterwards we got an ITV1 logo - what the hell is going on at ITV Wales? Embarassed

The FUNNIEST thing I've ever seen on a news show - you couldnt make it up:

Yesterday, 11 August, at around 6:20pm, the fire bell started going off in the studio. The presenters soldiered on, looking nervously for any sign of evacuation. But then came the headline roundup. Two of the top stories? A fire in Llanelli and a mother saying how lucky her family was to escape from a fire.

You couldn't make it up...

Well now Lucy has appeared on the ITV News Channel could this mean that one day in the not to distant future she will be snapped up by another tv station – So I was thinking who could replace her as the main female anchor on ITV Wales News! I think it would be Juliet – but she isnt the only one in with a chance.

Juliet Piper – Most likely to take over, she is just as capable as Lucy and is very cheerful and friendly. She is the person who mainly stands in when Lucy isn’t on anyway.

Tara Branfield – She seems nice enough, but she isn’t one of my fave’s, she stands in on the main program quite a bit so is certainly used to it.

Sally Johnson – HTV’s longest serving newsreader, having worked there for 12 years +. Presents morning/lunchtime bulletins part-time but she has presented the main program on the odd occasion (but not for about 2 years). Would she make the move to the evening?

Justina Simpson – A young presenter who has been at HTV for a few years, but she would be more than capable of presenting the 6pm bulletin. She has the confidence to do it.

Zoe Tape – Former sports presenter, Zoe is one of ITV Wales’s main reporters. I think she would do an excellent job presenting the main ITV Wales News.

Phillipa Meaken – the outsider, I think Phillipa is far too junior to presenter the news at 6pm; she needs to gain more confidence on the smaller bulletins first.

And if Jon ever left who would replace him? Not Andrew Jones I hope! Wink
