Has anyone noticed the letter size on the word 'Wales' on the ITV1Wales idents tonight? They are humungous!!!!!!!!!!

Does the BBC Wales News regularly beat ITV Wales News at 18:00/18:30 ? According to another thread BBC News beats ALL ITV regions in the six o'clock hour apart from Northern Ireland!

Owan do you think I should change the name of this thread?

Yes its true BBC Wales does beat ITV Wales News (apparently).

In my opinion ITV Wales News is a far stronger programme than BBC Wales Today and has been for years.

Both have their faults but Jonathan Hill and the lovely Lucy Owen are a great presenting team. Their 'Waterfront' political programme is more than a match for the BBC's 'Dragon's Eye' as well.

I reckon both Jon and Lucy would make great presenters at network level.

My only comparison between the regional news programmes are that the ITV Wales News is less pompous than it's BBC counterpart and the addition of dual-presenting adds to the informality and feeling part of the ITV programme - ie connecting with the viewers.

Both services provide a VERY similar service and cover 90% of the same stories each day. I just can't stomach most of the BBC News presenters and just don't warm to them. I used to like Claire Summers but even she has 'changed.' Bob Humphrys is the best presenter on BBC Wales News.

Well I dont watch BBC Wales so cant compare but I do think ITV Wales News is a very strong programme overall. I agree about Lucy, she is my fave presenter and she would do well on the national ITV News.

Waterfront is also a very good series, I often see that on Sundays.

Well we're yet to be joined by Su it seems [she's clearly waiting for a Monday start].

I also didn't even notice Juliet Piper was ever pregnant -- probably because she isn't important enough to stand up.

Mind you sad to hear the death of Gwynfor Evans -- arguably one of the most important Welsh figures of the last century. On a forum-relevant level of course, crucial in the creation of S4C.

Congratulations to Juliet Piper Very Happy - I remember a few months ago there was a report on ITV Wales about choosing baby names and Jon asked Juliet if she had chosen a name for her baby, so I guessed she was pregnant.

Steve Taylor presented todays lunchtime bulletin and it was great to see Sorrel Neil do a live report, she did it very well, she would be ideal to read some of the GMTV or weekend bulletins IMO.

Su didnt turn up to do the weather, as I predicted we had Charlie instead! Will she turn up on Monday? We shall see.

Well I think negociations broke down at an early stage on that front.

Apparently it was discovered that BBC Wales is evil and not even the second coming of Dilwyn Young-Jones will produce a rebranded Wales thread -- once upon a time of course, the *only* source of information and critical analysis for the Welsh media industry.

Phillippa Meaken is presenting bulletins today.

ITV Wales did very well at the Welsh Bafta's last night, they got awards for the film A Way of Life, as well as the long running current affairs series Wales This Week. Nice to see Lucy there with her hubby.

Well we might be able to negotiate something at a later stage. I wonder if Su will return tommorow, TVD is the one who wants her to return, im not bothered either way.

Well apparently I'm to get my hankies ready for something, only those with the stopwatch in London cut Sue off before she told me what it was. I've now got a plentiful supply of hankies here but I don't know what I'm anxiously waiting for.

I only watch about 5 HTV junctions a week [can you guess what I watch], and the long gap at the start of most of them just makes it tediously inevitable that the anno is going to be chopped off/absent/rubbish.

I noticed that, it looked very sloppy on ITV's part. I think a nation is cheering rather than sobbing now Katy Harris has kicked the bucket mind.

I noticed that Su didnt turn up to do the weather today afterall - Emma Jesson presented it on both West and Wales. This might mean we will only get Charlie and Emma doing all forcasts for Wales until Ruth returns in about a years time (knowing her!). They will have to bring someone in at some stage to cover when Charlie or Emma go on holidays surely? They used to use Wales presenters to cover on Central/West when Charlie or Emma werent around but now Wales have no-one there is just one thing for it - bring back Jo Rice! Very Happy

Meanwhile Johnny presented the lunchtime bulletin today - Lucy was clearly out shoe shopping to help her recover from Saturday's Welsh Bafta's.
