These brooch-laden women are taking over telly as we know it!
LOL no I hadnt seen that
Im suprised that Catharine is doing weekend bulletins every week, she used to be mainly chief reporter material on the 6pm bulletin with the likes of Andy Collinson and Nick Partridge.
I wonder if we will ever have a JULIET weekend?
Ive also noticed one of the newer reporters Chris Perry has been reporting a lot more on ITV Wales News recently.
Look out Lucy, terror into Tara, watch out Juliet theres a new girl in town!
Phillippa Meaken presented the morning bulletins on ITV Wales today and they were great! Not a single mistake and Phillippa contains a very authoritive voice and is a pleasure to watch!
I can see her going far and possibly end up at ITN - she had got a 'neutral' accent and would suit The ITV Evening News alongside Mark Austin perfectly!
I don't want to make enemies, but i really don't see the point of Wales having regional continuity anymore, given that ITV1 England doesn't. Any reasons?
Because we're different , and not as one dimensional as most of you lot. :
Re: nebe...
Even though the BBC channels have
always
been single/UK-wide channels, BBC One (and BBC Two???) have had seperate continuity for all the non-England UK nations for as long as care to remember. So, now that ITV1 has changed it's structure, why should their non-England viewers get less branding recognition than on the BBC channel(s)???
And, before anyone asks, the "England" continuity isn't branded as such (i.e. "BBC One England" or "ITV1 England" etc) because it's also the default if Cardiff/Glasgow/Belfast (etc) continuity has technical problems.
EDIT: I would be interested to see what any "ITV1 Northern Ireland" logo would look like. How would they fit it all on? Would the yellow rectangle have to be twice as wide, to allow for two lines of text?
[i...t...v...1]
[.Northern.]
[..Ireland..]
Or would the text be half the size, so it could still be spread over two lines, but within the same size yellow reclangle?
Or would they abbreviate to "NI" like the Beeb have? (Highly unlikely, as this would presumably be regarded by ITV plc as clashing with the "ITV1" name - as that was their attitude to the "HTV" name)

Well done Phillippa!
It was great to see Sally Johnson return to GMTV bulletins yesterday morning after a few weeks off, I get fed up of Andrew Jones reading them ALL the time, so it was great to see someone different being given the chance to read the GMTV Wales bulletins this morning.
I agree that Phillippa was very good, although my fave's are Justina, Lucy, Catharine, Jonathan, Juliet and Sally.

It would be an awkward one to deal with. The genius of the UTV name is that, as it is abbreviated, it doesn't specifically attach itself to one particular area. This means they can target the Republic as well as the North. It also deals with any problems regarding the use of the word Ulster.
If ITV1 UTV isn't acceptable (and it won't be permitted), then you may end up with the clunky ITV1 Northern Ireland (and I already feel for the announcer who has to say that - I've already heard a few struggle over ITV1 Wales) Mind you, ITV1 Carlton for Central England happened, so it's possible. However, this would explicitly target the north, and ignore the south. Might not be an issue though, as AFAIK Granada has interests in TV in the south.
ITV1NI sounds like an American affiliate, and ITV1 Ulster isn't going to happen. Surely.

This weekends bulletins are being presented by Carole Green.
Well I knew it wouldnt be Lucy as its her wedding day today!
Congratulations to Lucy and Rhodri!
Do we have any more details on the wedding? Like - where is it being held? Who is the best man? Are the official photos being published by Hello or OK magazine? Just what is Lucy's surname going to become?
PS It couldnt rain any harder if it tried! Maybe Lucy shouldve checked with James Wright before getting hitched!
