Quite surprised they're allowed to cancel it - no reason to tonight really as they could easily bite into the build up to the second World Cup match or show a 45-minute episode of Catchphrase instead. Could have been avoided though by just scheduling the news before the first match - a bulletin at 3.55pm wouldn't be any earlier than some have been in the past.
Nooooo! Regional News has been cancelled today because of the overrunning of the football.
So Cardiff Bay will now debut tomorrow morning now.
Naughty ITV, no need for the already limited Regional News to have been missed in my opinion. The analysis could have been wrapped up a bit earlier...and I say this as a Football fan.
They make more money from the ads wrapped round the football, but you have to ask at what point are they breaching their licence commitments?
Exactly what I was thinking. I know Sundays have less Regional News but this takes the biscuit. Back on topic, at least ITV Wales get to show their new studios on a Monday...which should have always been the plan in my opinion. ***CONSPIRACY THEORY*** Unless it was the plan all along...
***EDIT*** Brekkie has a point above too, they could easily have used the second World Cup game to either mop up the schedule or talk about the first game.
Disgusting that they cancelled the regional news - i wouldnt have cared if the football had actually still been on but to talk about it for 10-15 mins after it had already overrun - the local news is only actually on about 5 mins on weekends so surely they could still have talked after the football and still had time for the news
Oh well guess we will be seeing the first bulletin from Cardiff Bay during GMB in the morning.
Just seen they put the bulletin online, so thats not so bad - i like the presenter stood up during the bulletin, didnt think id like that.
Does anyone know if Andrew Jones is still working at ITV Wales - for the last month or so the GMB bulletins have been presented by a variety of presenters who are normally out reporting such as Rob Osbourne, Richard Morgan, Alexandra Lodge and even Ruth presented one morning. I usually watch the first GMB bulletin before going to work.

It's all to do with getting the ads in during the World Cup programming, as the regional news probably doesn't make them any money at weekends if they can get away with dropping it they will.
Going back to presentation and I know it's a short bulletin and perhaps on this occassion they were avoiding showing the main set (though no reason not too considering they showed it on Friday) but that angle doesn't really work IMO - the screen isn't large enough to get away with it. Definately need to turn the camera shot a bit more IMO.

Yes.Pretty much what I said in the WC thread and it wouldn't have effected the ads in their WC coverage either.
Oh I know the ads make money and I didnt mind them being shown as I realise they would have some very annoyed people paying for adverts that never got shown and that wouldnt be allowed, but if they had cut down the analysis of the match by 4 or 5 mins they could have shown the local news, even starting the coverage of the next game 5 mins late wouldnt have killed them, the kick off is plenty of time after the coverage starts.

Im guessing that is what will be shown for the short bulletins at lunchtime and weekends, plus GMB with Good Morning Wales on the screen. Im guessing the late bulletin may show the entire studio?
Is it true its down to one presenter on the 6pm news? I guess Andrea and Jon both have enough to keep them busy on the days they dont present and they will be able to cover each others holidays etc if it is to be one presenter.
I've taken the liberty of notifying people that their post has already been posted twice today.
EDIT: of course I posted this at the exact same time as Jon, so that is acceptable because it was an accident. So perhaps a mod could remove it before a bunch of trolls start calling me a hypocrite? Sorry Jon.
