Hello.

Sorry I've started a new thread on this, but ITV West & Westcountry are now broadcasting local news to the old West & Westcountry regions during Daybreak and for the lunchtime news.

...could this mean local news is returning to ITV?

Surprised no-one has commented on this. Does anyone know more about it?

Quite interesting, they already supply separate regional news online in the morning so I guess it wouldn't make much difference to have two opts in the morning. To have two lunchtime news bulletins though is quite strange considering all the changes that were implemented a couple of years ago.

I wonder if other regions will follow?

On calendar, there is a short 5 minute bulletin online for the south of the region, and our region never got split online, it came as one big region unlike most regions which have two separate news feeds online.

But where is it coming from? if both are coming from Bristol is there enough room for two separate live feeds.

I doubt any other areas will get its news back, especial TT and borders, with this ofcom report taking place. I looks

Well it could be a REALLY convincing chroma-key set up, depends if there were separate presenters.

Is this true then? If so this is a bit of a surprise.

Yes true for West Country, I asked Ian Axton on Twitter.

They are just doing 1 live 1 rec. for Daybreak, Lunch and Late (as they did already) and still doing the 15 min split at 6pm

Not exactly a hard thing to do in reality. Especially Daybreak, you can record the 6.15-8.15 bulletin just once in reality and can be replayed 3 times.

Don't know if it will roll out though to other regions.

I don't know why they didn't just do this in the first place. It surely can't cost much to do can it?

No the same presenter just can record a similarish bulletin before hand etc.

I Think the were more complients in the West / WC area but the quality of local news compared other merger regions... so good luck to them who knows what may happen elsewhere!

They can't repeat the same bulletin 3 times as travel info would be incorrect. One of the bulletins must be pre-reorded before each of the 3 opts during Daybreak.

True point. I'd think though they'd stick one bulletin live all morning other region pre-rec and they'd do it 10-20 mins before live bulletin
