ITV region news

South Central doesn't mean anything to the viewers in that patch though. Thames Valley might be better...

Every ITV Plc Region comes under the name of 'ITV (Name goes here)', so really 'ITV HTV' wouldn't work, Wales/West makes more sense. HTV News wouldn't work either, as it is an ITV Wales Production on ITV1 Wales, it doesn't make sense, hence why it's ITV Wales News. It would also be point-l-e-s-s for London too if you had ITV Carlton and ITV LWT Production arms, so ITV London makes sense, so thats mainly why Carlton, LWT and HTV brand names were sacrificed.

Granada is an important name for ITV Plc, as their Network Production arm is called Granada, it's been associated with the North West for nearly half a century, so it would prove point-l-e-s-s to change it.

I can't really see ITV changing the names of Regional News programmes, if anything they'll probably stick with what they have now, if they dropped the Calendar and Lookaround names (which have been there since the 1960's!) it wouldn't do any good for them. HTV was the only problem with Regional News branding for reasons I've mentioned, London was fortunate as they already had London Tonight.

I agree that ITV HTV News wouldnt work. Although for over a year we had HTV News on ITV1 Wales.

Oh is it doing it on this thread as well. It appears every work wth e-s-s in it is being picked out.

Sky list ITV1 Wales as - "ITV1 HTV Wales" and the news is "ITV1 Wales News".

ITV Wales and ITV West are still officially called HTV Cymru/Wales Limited and HTV West Ltd. There are also loads of active companies named HTV.... under the same group. So in fact the ITV Wales and ITV West names are just how they are marketed by ITV.

Central is the same. It is still officially called Central Independent Television Ltd (even when Carlton rebranded Central to Carlton). ITV Central is just the way ITV market the company!
